For example,b1exch.to Signature Campaign is an active campaign. Some members, such as @PrivacyG and @BlackHatCoiner were accepted there, but they left it and joined the S a t R u s h . i o Signature Campaign. Though , that campaign ended just one week later.

What was the reason for leaving the b1exch.to Signature Campaign?

Haven’t you answered your own question? You have listed a pay-per-post rate. It describes why reputable users leave campaigns and join other campaigns. Reputable users are acceptable almost in every campaign. So when they find some other high-paying campaigns, they are free to leave. Simple reason.

However, I am not sure why you are asking that question. You are new here and seem curious about signature earnings. Remember, anyone is free to leave any campaigns anytime. No one is forced to stay on any campaign.

I have been observing for quite some time that some high ranked and reputable members leave active signature campaigns and move to other campaigns.

Another member,
@Don Pedro Dinero, did something similar by leaving an active campaign and joining the S a t R u s h . i o Signature Campaign.

Can anyone provide some information about this? Were these members removed by the campaign manager, or did they leave voluntarily because of the higher pay rate and move to the S a t R u s h . i o campaign?
Some of us get a custom offer from companies, this may be the case with these users you are mentioning. Could also be they like the requirements better in the new campaign, they believe more in the project, or they just wanna support a company. Whatever the reasons, it's not really your business is it?

5. Post 67078355 (unedited backup) (by Homemade-IQ) (scraped on Tue Aug 25 00:32:02 CEST 2026) in Does it take us a long time to reach 1 BTC:

Quote from: BlackHatCoiner on August 16, 2026, 03:50:26 PM
Don't obsess over the "1 whole coin" metric. Market volatility is going to absolutely blow up your 32-year timeline; either you'll get there way faster in massive bear markets, or your $50 will eventually buy you dust.

This is why I think that most small Bitcoin investors can never accumulate up to one Bitcoin, because volatility and market effect will probably make the unit of Bitcoin bought with that $50 to drastically diminish as the years goes by. Some investors don't even invest up to $20 dollar weekly, so accumulating up to a Bitcoin is an unrealistic target that may never take place, unless such person periodically inject a huge amount of money into his accumulation, because without doing that, or if he doesn't have the capacity to do that, it can never be possible for him to accumulate up to a Bitcoin.

6. Post 67076570 (unedited backup) (by Danish Ali) (scraped on Mon Aug 24 14:19:02 CEST 2026) in Is it reliable to create a contract or Bitcoin HTLC lock system with AI? :

The code produced by the AI, whether in Solidity contracts or Bitcoin HTLCs, appears entirely plausible but lacks finicky details that only arise in rough conditions.

This is because AI can easily forego reentrancy guards, or checks-effects-interactions ordering, or even edge cases of whole numbers in Solidity. Whereas, Bitcoin Script can corrupt the timelock/logic in a branch/handling of locktime, relative locktime branch (CSV) or malleability handling with no warning. This won't cause any build error, the code will just run just fine until someone decides to attack this functionality on mainnet.

So if AI writes the code and/or affects the process of writing code, then this is not something that can be considered an option, but rather an obligation; as outlined in BlackHatCoiner's advice: always test it on testnet and check independently.

In direct reply to the thread title: no, unless there is a developer that knows what they're doing and has a solid understanding of contract code to check it line by line and get a professional audit. It is good for fast prototyping an idea, but may be risky standalone products.

My bad! So we agree!

I absolutely disagree with the idea of keeping the Coldcard, though. If you haven't lost any funds, I'd consider moving them to a reputable signing device like SeedSigner, and throw that thing to the trash.

Let me make it clear that I don't recommend that anyone other than highly technical people do anything with any of Coinkite's products.  I consider them unsafe.  Yes, it's 'playing with fire', but at the same time, so is playing with ANY hardware device at this point in time.  Indeed, playing with Bitcoin itself is now and always has been 'playing with fire.'

SeedSigner has the distinct advantage of letting the user have more control of the supply chain.  The potential in-built weakness (at the 'pi' or processor level) are unlikely to be narrowly targeted toward subverting crypto-currency except insofar as they may exist to attack cryptography generally.  I've not researched the SeedSigner project in detail, but I would assume that they now (or will be soon) taking pains to deal with the entropy issue, and there will always be the issues associated with cold attacks on storage of secrets for any hardware device.

I would mention again that I hope people do NOT throw these things in the trash.  They could be useful for further analysis in some sort of an attempt to further understand this fairly devastating attack on the Bitcoin community at large.

Since when does any crypto exchange actually have a customer support team that calls you? If Binance is ringing my phone proactively to "help" me, I already know it's 100% a scam.

If someone asks for your seed phrase, tell them to touch grass and get a real job.
I would argue this is a good point but only for more experienced customers.  I did get phone calls from companies I was a customer of before, this is pretty normal practice at least where I lived.  The scam targets are obviously either very Rich Bitcoiners who are stupid enough to fall for it or people with little Bitcoin and no experience.  When you know Binance would never call you, you probably already know enough not to fall for this.

I think it highly likely that they did deliberately plant 'tricks' on the device (incl firmware), and if so, they almost certainly wouldn't hesitate to load it up with a variety of such tricks.
If they did not deliberately plant this, can you explain me how this critical vulnerability was written by Coinkite's CEO pretending to be someone else? Source: https://x.com/oomahq/status/2085717166884618584.

The CTO and this "switck" account were talking with each other, pretending like they are different people. It is highly UNLIKELY this is not an inside job.

I agree with everything, except one small detail that I can no longer sleep easy at nights: Computer RNG. I genuinely want to have the randomness confirmed with my own eyes from now on; and I know the recent incident with Coldcard has nothing to do with flawed CSRNG, but I'm afraid that everything happening on the computer is going to be heavily scrutinized by AI, and there MAY be weaknesses on deeper levels as well, like urandom or the hardware component itself.

Rolling a dice will become the new paranoid's standard, but you can't import dice entropy in Electrum.
Electrum doesn't let you to import dice entropy but it can be fixed if you convert your physical dice rolls into a standard mnemonic seed phrase. Roll physical dice to create 128 bit entropy, then convert it into 12-words BIP39 seed and then import BIP39 seed into Electrum.

This is the best approach to my mind: buy a cheap new laptop without any OS installed, do not connect it to the internet, remove wifi and bluetooth parts from it. Stick a usb flash drive with Tails installed on it (verify the Tails image before creating the USB), open an electrum wallet, generate a wallet and that's it
Why buy a new laptop just to run Tails OS? The whole idea of Tails OS is that it's can be used on any computer.
The whole idea of buying a new laptop is that you are buying a fresh, untouched hardware. Tails can protect you from infected OS but it can't protect you from compromised BIOS, physical keyloggers and altered hardware. If you have an old laptop at home, then no problem, use it. But if you don't have a laptop and you have to buy, I would still choose a new, cheap laptop over second-hand.

They’re two sides of the same coin, but independent verification is the only reason the monetary properties actually exist. Without verification, "sound money" is just a shiny orange logo.

Monetary properties are why people show up; the ability to tell the entire network "no, that breaks the rules" from your living room is why it survives.
Bitcoin is an accounting revolution.
Bitcoin and the accounting revolution that shook the world.

Bitcoin has necessary technical things to make a revolution and change the human civilization, not only in accounting industry.
The bullish case for Bitcoin.

There are resources for reading and changing thinking about Bitcoin, then becoming earlier comers than other people, it's only whether people are open minded for reading, learning, changing and taking their proper actions.

Correct, because there's no legitimate support from crypto exchange will call random people out of nowhere. Then saying that they want to help regarding on whatever reason they say on our accounts.

By the time they are pretending to be a support of certain exchange, this already mean that the person you talk on the line is a scammer.

Legitimate platform or people working behind that exchange will never asked for seed phrase or any important details on their wallets. The people asking that just want to steal their funds.

Also they can ignore this incidents by ignoring all fake calls.

Stick a usb flash drive with Tails installed on it (verify the Tails image before creating the USB), open an electrum wallet, generate a wallet and that's it, you have an air-gapped computer with cold wallet that's more secure than any hardware wallet.

yes but how big can you make the 25th word on electrum .

I did an electrum years ago and it was a 12 word seed. they said I could add a 13th word but I do not remember the rules about adding the extra word as a passphrase if you can do a big word it is easy use my punch method

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0GWCLMR3V/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1

use 32 of the 36 punches over and over again

32x32x32x32x32x32x32x32=1.0995×10¹²

 1.099 trillion cube it

or 24 characters long   and you get 120 extra bits randomly

It's wild how many people still eagerly hand over their keys and then act shocked when the platform holds their coins hostage over a random KYC update. Get them off the exchange ASAP.
Turn on GPS together with KYC are perfect tools for banks and governments to identify locations of their citizens, and any bank transfers so that they know where you were when you made your transactions. It's not only terrible for your privacy but also put you at higher risk of getting caught anytime you governmental officials.

Can you really disappear from the internet?

The irony of what was supposed to be the most friendly Bitcoin administration by buying Bitcoin and establishing a so called "Bitcoin Strategic Reserve" never happened, and instead this administration, no different from any other administration, is being forced to buy back their own debt in order to keep yields from going above 5%. This printing of the money to buy back their own debt is sending the clear signal that money printer is back on. Bitcoin was the first asset to react and is not above the 200 day moving average, proving that yield curve control will pump BTC to all time highs once the US government is checkmated into doing so.

This proves that the bullish thesis for Bitcoin remains and any noise around it is just used by smarter players to accumulate a lower prices, no matter what the FUD is (hard forks, crypto regulations being against it, and so on). Facts remain: BTC remains the only asset you can truly own that is strictly limited in amount and when measured in USD it will go up on a long enough timeframe.
I think you are making this too simple and confusing institutions of the United States. If they are buying back debt that does not mean automatically that they are printing money by the FED. When we talk about debt buybacks by the Treasury that is a separate institution from the FED, and they are authorized to buy back the debt before it reaches maturity. If you look at what they posted some days ago here https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sb0590, you will see that they are doing this as an operation of debt management where they try to improve liquidity and their balances. When you describe as printing money did not happen for this, and what is actually happening is very different from the Treasury asking the FED to print some dollars to buy the debt. Another reason why they did this is to do yield curve management, so this intervention pushed the yields down. No money was printed to deal with this situation.

Wait, you're telling me a politician hyped up a "Strategic Reserve" on the campaign trail and then just smashed the inflation button instead? Shocked.

Turns out we didn't even need them to directly buy BTC. We just needed them to do what the government does best: absolutely nuke the fiat supply to bail out the bond market. Task failed successfully!
This is not what is happening here, the post is based on a misunderstanding of how the US treasury works unless the user is talking about other events that I have missed and not what I linked here. The treasury yield intervention or the Strategic Bitcoin reserve are not related to FED printing for now. I have not seen anyone bring evidence that money was printed to deal with this situation.

Those politicians don't directly need to stack some BTC, since those policies they created will do its own work.

By trying to nuke the supply of their fiat, to try rescuing their bonds. Somehow proves those points that fiat has been created and they design to inflate it.

Yeah we don't need them, Bitcoin survives without their presence. Also those actions they have done actually highlight those flaw each time they made an action to save their bonds. They are the main reason why their fiat weakens. This is also a great proof that fiat will get bend if this is in heavy pressure, but Bitcoin and other scarce assets usually hold its ground.

Even the "Strategic Reserve" is like a half-decent from Trump President Administration because it only pauses bitcoin selling pressure from the USA government whereas there is no purchases from them. It's good to reduce selling pressure on the market but it's still far worse than what people expected from Trump about his promise for the national strategic reserve.

Rather than doing great things with Bitcoin, he does something with fiat currencies, and it's not different than previous presidents did: printing more money, and create more inflationary issue for US. dollar.

The US. dollar lost its purchasing power with time and more money printing but if it is one of forces to raise Bitcoin price, I see it is good for Bitcoin. Interesting thing is Bitcoin ROIs are better than money printing rate from the USA.

A lot of Bitcoin advocates including BlackHatCoiner have been shouting since that Bitcoin is the only worthy currency to hold and never fiat. Those who heed those advice must have realized the peace that comes with trusting Bitcoin against fiat that is obviously doomed to inflation and endless printing. The recent buyback strategy of the US debt is the eye opener to people that fiat is not worth holding.

One beautiful thing about Bitcoin is that when it wants to move, nothing beats the speed.  When other assets are gaining my single digits,  Bitcoin is already flying in double digits with no sign of slowing down. It is not late to buy more because we might still just be in the dip.

In total, that's 1.92 x 10^41 unique ways to roll exactly 25 non-fives and 74 fives on 99 dice. For the record, 2^128 is 3.4 x 10^38.
That's because you're aiming for the 24 word seed phrase. If you'd do the same with that terribly drunk dice for just 50 rolls, it would produce a much lower entropy.
But thanks for the math Smiley I was planning to stick to 24 word seeds anyway (and I always ignored Trezor's "20 word" option).

27. Post 67066200 (unedited backup) (by Hewlet) (scraped on Fri Aug 21 08:48:43 CEST 2026) in How the economies of nations, has turned the youths to be useless.:

Quote from: BlackHatCoiner on August 14, 2026, 02:55:28 PM
That's literally why we are all on a Bitcoin forum instead of outside at the beach. Stop waiting for the government to fix the economy and go out there and fix your life.
The difference between the dude that's doing well and the struggling one is this key mentality of taking Thier destiny in Thier hands and not having to wait for government that's not interested in you in the first place. As much as a societal failure starts from the government, we as individuals that are at the recieving end determines if a failed government should have a direct impact on us. The economy of nations can only slow you down and cause a major delay in how soon you tend to reach your peak but a determine heart will still sower in the midst of a disfunctional economy and the reality still remains that there are a lot of people that are doing well even though they are in an economy that's not doing well.

For so many part of the an average youth can't really do much to helping the economy like he can do to help himself and rather than playing a blame game, channelling that effort into self growth is the easiest way to come of of frustration of systems that's not working to production of actual results.

Quote from: BlackHatCoiner on Today at 12:03:25 PM
Why does the drop have to be as massive as 95-99% to become a threat?
Because last time I measured it, the available hashrate you can rent in total is up to 4% of the total hashrate. Most 51% attacks, if not all, do not happen because the owner of the ASICs decided to attack, but rather because the attacker got access to the infrastructure, usually via renting the ASICs.

If the hashrate dropped by 50%, it'd still be incredibly expensive for the attacker to rent all available hashrate, and it'd still not be enough for 51% attacks. Also, if the hashrate dropped by 50%, we can assume that a large portion of the available hashrate to rent would decline as well.

There is truth in this but I would say maybe 90% hash drop could do it. If I owned a failing mine but big and was going to switch to ai.

I MIGHT scrap together enough to pass 51% on 100eh [which is a 90%] drop.

99 times, and even with a completely flawed dice that returns '5' 75% of the times, you're still getting above 128 bits.
Can you show the math on this? My gut feeling tells me this should produce much less than 128 bits entropy, but my statistics is rusty.

This is what always have happened, and what everyone keeps forgetting.

This sideways chop is specifically designed to violently separate the impatient from the orange-pilled. Let Blackrock quietly sweep up the supply while the TikTok traders get bored and sell to go chase memecoins.

It's all about delayed gratification. Relevant thread: 2014, 2018, 2022, 2026.
When people are tired, get bored, the market will suddenly wake them up with a surge, and if it is a right time, it will be a never bottom-return recovery from a market bottom area. Then people will need a little bit time like weeks, not immediately, to realize that Bitcoin already moved far away from its bottom area of that cycle.

That's it, that's how Bitcoin market works, cycle by cycle, and that's how the market is unpredictable with people who want to find perfect prices and times.

This surge hours ago, again, reminds people who are still struggling with their emotion and psychology in this market. So it's time to read, reread and learn again about these things.

Assuming that people already understand about Bitcoin fundamentals, next things they need to learn are not trading and technical analysis, but market psychological cycle and market history patterns.
Wall Street cheatsheet: the psychology of market cycles.
The psychological pitfalls of market cycle.

Satoshi was most definitely a poker face.
Satoshi building a P2P poker engine before finishing the consensus protocol is peak cypherpunk behavior.

He realized quickly that before you can host the global casino, you have to invent the unconfiscatable chips first.

There's never a boring day in Bitcoin, you always learn something new.

According to some old findings, the original 0.1.0 Bitcoin repository contained the framework for a virtual poker game, added on April 16, 2008, months before the white paper, alongside a peer-to-peer marketplace and an IRC client for bootstrapping.

Neither the marketplace nor the poker game was ever developed after launch. The scraps persisted through roughly v0.1.3, then were stripped out. You can still see them in mirrors of the original source.

Satoshi was most definitely a poker face.

Some parts of what you have said here is true, also there's an early Bitcoin code which is unfinished which have same like poker clients, IRC bootstrapping and a small marketplace.

The way how Satoshi try many things, it seems that he's just doing an experiment. but later on he removes those things. Those action also shows that he think about lots of ideas for Bitcoin and not just thinking about making it as digital money.

Look at this, since this is quiet interesting.

BIP-777 (GPR) The Great Poker Restoration: Add the poker client back to bitcoin #32181
Fiach-Dubh / bitcoin-0.1.0
original-bitcoin-laboratory/genesis

I wonder at this point if Bitcoin would have had problems that couldn't be solved mostly as regarding being easily hacked or regulations, if Satoshi had gone along to integrate marketplace and gambling protocol built into the node it functions on today, because it makes sense the gambling protocol earlier thought of, would have been what would have made Bitcoin fail and not a digital gold as it is known today.
Experiments get the right results and it is indeed because Bitcoin stands alone, that it became more valuable and even more of a hybrid economic solution in many regions of the world today.

Maybe bitcoin might struggle if it happens that Satoshi integrate marketplaces, gambling and other risky features directly on the protocol. Since this can possibly attract lots of hacking incidents, more attack on legal side and regulations. So by keeping Bitcoin simple in design then decentralize and also secure. It somehow about to became a target of said attacks.

Those minimal features what make Bitcoin as strong currency, since it remains permissionless, neutral to anyone and focus for being as alternative currency.

The experiments towards those marketplaces and gambling still exist, but this happen outside of its layer. On which any possible failures didn't damage the reputation of Bitcoin. This separation is actually what help Bitcoin to survive on any possible chaos then it help to be recognize as digital gold for many users globally.

Quote from: BlackHatCoiner on Today at 06:02:16 AM
In addition to pooya87, Bitcoin cannot collapse because of hashrate decline, except if the hashrate decline is so massive (95-99%) that attacking it becomes economically feasible.

The difficulty adjustment is in place for exactly adjusting the coin generation according to the mining market, ensuring that the price is not affected from changes in the capital invested to protect the network.

Why does the drop have to be as massive as 95-99% to become a threat?
If it drops by a little over 50% this means somewhere there is equipment able to produce >50% hashpower that can be used to attack the network. Assuming the owner(s) of that idle equipment act only according to their financial interest, they could either rent it out cheaply to the attacker or even attack the network themselves.

On a side note, I'm not even sure if 51% attack would be illegal. I guess it would depend on the jurisdiction. But if my memory serves me right, I think one of the Bitcoin devs (Luke Dash Jr?) was openly attacking SHA-256 altcoins in the early days and I don't think there was any concern about the legality of that.

Why do people say this? Of course and the priority was peer-to-peer cash, but why selecting a hard cap if it weren't for the store-of-value proposition? Why not add a tail emission? It would still be resistant to arbitrary inflation. But he didn't, he chose to cap it at 21 million.
Actually, I never read any of his statements that say it will be used for holding purposes usually. I mostly read why and how it should be used for payments, like a currency. But bro, you definitely have a good point here. A 21 million capped supply is a good argument to say why he chose that!

I believe he wanted to fight inflation. That's why he hard capped it. But then again, you will say the same thing, that then how could Satoshi not think that it can also become a commodity like gold, used to preserve value for the long term? So bro, I agree with you and the point you made, but My point was based on what has mostly been said.

I can understand your perspective. If you look at what he said and envisioned, there is a stark difference with what and how Bitcoin is being viewed and used today. He was mostly on the P2P side and not necessarily a system that will replace fiat or a store of value. Well, Bitcoin couldn't keep up in that front so it evolved and became something more - a store of value.

I believe he designed Bitcoin as a tool to combat control while having inflation in mind. But regarding the OP and the article, I strongly believe he had those features in mind as trying to create some practical use case in the system. I mean, poker uses chips, so instead of chips you use Bitcoin. The marketplace is the most obvious use case, and the messaging app will be a way of communication while carrying out transactions. So, I believe he was trying to create some form of utility in the chain. Whatsoever reason made him change his mind I don't know. But I like this reply.

Quote from: Smartprofit on August 14, 2026, 07:02:36 PM
I believe Satoshi Nakamoto originally envisioned Bitcoin as a decentralized social network with chat, gambling, a marketplace, and digital money. 🙋

However, over time, he realized all the shortcomings of this concept. P2P poker could have ruined the entire project. American regulators could have classified it as illegal gambling software. As a result, the project would have died before it even had a chance to develop.

Satoshi Nakamoto acted like a sculptor, cutting away all unnecessary elements. He focused on creating global, digital, decentralized money and created Bitcoin!

As for his poker skills, I'm not at all surprised. Poker is a very intellectual game. Every student loves playing poker with friends on long winter evenings. Moreover, poker is directly related to game theory and mathematics. 💁

The regulation problem would have really been a serious roadblock and to add to this, having all these features would have created unnecessary complexity to the system.

So I believe he may or may not necessarily be a poker player.

This headline is clickbait. Smiley

The presence of a virtual poker game in this repository doesn't necessarily mean that Satoshi himself was a poker player (poker, in particular, might be chosen due to its popularity). It could have been a feature designed for users, a way to attract them to bitcoin through this card game. It seems to me that this feature should have been added and developed further; doing so might have accelerated user adoption of bitcoin and allowed it to get ahead of the gambling industry that utilizes the app.

All in all, it’s fascinating information about the "dead-end" evolutionary branches of bitcoin. I wonder how things would have played out if the poker and P2P marketplace features hadn't been removed? I’d love to see a universe featuring that alternative version of bitcoin. Smiley

Will it pass? Eventually, probably. Although expect Congress to keep kicking the can with delays and lobbyist concessions until it barely resembles the original document.

Whether that is good or bad depends on where you come from. If you're solely interested in pouring liquidity from Wall Street into Bitcoin, then you'll love it.

The bill might go through a couple of revisions before the final draft is approved by both chambers of Congress. It must pass before the midterms. Otherwise, it would risk being turned down by the Democrats. Assuming they win one or both chambers (House + Senate). Since day one, "Wall Street" has been pushing for this bill to become a reality. I'm pretty sure they'll "pump" the crypto market if it gets approved. But if the bill gets rejected, market prices will go all the way down the drain. At least, temporarily.

As much as I'm against tightening crypto regulations, it's the only "painful" way to boost demand/capital inflows. VCs and institutional investors are the ones who keep the money flowing on the market. Without them, the industry would be doomed. One can only hope Bitcoin stays decentralized amidst rising corporate and governmental integration. Only time will tell...

This isn't automated security or compliance anymore; this is deliberate psychological warfare designed to make a player give up their hard-earned $1100 balance.

The fact that Stake approved Level 3 and then suddenly revoked everything, including Level 1, because of a Level 4 document submit shows that their KYC process is a rigged shell game. Asking for 3 months of bank statements, utility bills, and loan agreements for a small balance of $1100 is already borderline ridiculous, but erasing three years of compliance history is next-level financial theft.

A multi-billion dollar platform doing this to a regular user for three straight years shows exactly how they operate behind closed doors. They trap your capital in an endless bureaucratic loop, hoping you will just stop replies and let them keep the deposit.

We see senior members on this forum wearing Stake banners every single day, defending their corporate practices. But stories like this prove that behind the shiny sponsorships, they are ready to treat a small player like trash. Stake needs to manually review this case immediately, unlock this account, and pay out the funds. Stop hiding behind broken compliance bots.

Thank you all for such a deep, high-quality discussion. Reading all these perspectives from the community is exactly why I decided to return to active posting here.

First, let me quickly clear up my postscript for BIT-SENDER. I definitely didn't mean to sound patronizing or arrogant! When I used the word "legends," I wasn't talking about the forum rank system at all. I just meant the experienced OGs and veteran bitcoiners who actually understand the technology. As someone getting back into the groove of things, I genuinely look at the long-time members here as people to learn from, not to argue with for the sake of it. My apologies if it came out wrong.

You guys brought up an incredible point about user psychology, especially BlackHatCoiner, Smack That Ace, and PrivacyG. That survey graphic perfectly visualizes the war between freedom and convenience. PrivacyG hit the nail on the head about discipline—the modern world, with its TikTok brain rot and corporate safety nets, has conditioned people to expect a "cancel transaction" or "forgot password" button for everything. Taking 100% personal responsibility for your wealth is terrifying for the average person. They would rather trust a shady middleman than risk losing their seed phrase.

But as uunammox, Alvin_talk, and Odogwu-Blockchain pointed out, this is exactly the weakness that giant platforms like Binance exploit with their aggressive marketing and glossy interfaces. I agree with CryptoBuds that using an exchange as a quick trading tool or a fiat on-ramp is fine, but treating a CEX balance as a long-term savings account completely defeats the purpose of Bitcoin. Proof of Reserves means nothing if you don't hold the keys.

Ultimately, I think Ucy made a very profound point—maybe Bitcoin really isn't for everyone yet. If a user isn't mature enough to spend $50 on a hardware wallet and learn basic cyber-hygiene, they will inevitably become victims of the centralized system, no matter how many times we preach the tech.

But this shouldn't make us stop trying. This thread proves that the core educational spirit of the early cypherpunks is still alive right here. We shouldn't lower our standards to fit corporate convenience. Instead, we need to keep pushing for simpler, more accessible OPSEC education so that newcomers can learn how to be their own bank without being paralyzed by fear. Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread, this is what the forum is all about.

I have been re-reading Andreas Antonopoulos's famous book, "The Internet of Money," and it’s crazy how accurate his lectures still are today. In his early chapters, he talks deeply about how Bitcoin fixes the traditional financial system by replacing human trust with mathematical proof.

But look at where we are today. We escaped the traditional banking system, but many users immediately rushed back into the arms of new centralized third parties. Millions of people today keep 100% of their crypto on exchange accounts, custodial web wallets, and gambling platforms. They treat centralized balances exactly like traditional bank accounts.

We are voluntarily giving away our financial sovereignty just for a comfortable UI, fast trading, or flashy marketing, completely forgetting the golden rule: "not your keys, not your coins." Every time a major platform freezes an account, hides terms, or faces a data leak, it proves Antonopoulos's words—trusting a centralized middleman is always a technical vulnerability.

I want to start a discussion about this shift in user psychology. Why are we becoming too lazy to maintain our own self-sovereignty? Is the current crypto community losing the core educational values that Antonopoulos and early cypherpunks fought for?

P.S. I registered this account many years ago but never posted because my English was too poor to argue with legends here. Now, with better translation tools, I finally decided to dust off my profile and participate in discussions that actually matter to me.

Bitcoin should be purchased like any other investment: buy low, sell high. If you think Bitcoin is going to go down in price, sell it. If you think it's going to go up in price, buy it.
Truly groundbreaking financial advice. What if I think it will keep going up over the long term in terms of paper money, and only temporarily down in short periods of time?

Comparing Bitcoin to "USD" or some other sovereign currency is a strawman.

Only poor people (who want to stay poor) think paper money is an "investment". These are people whose "savings" is piles of bills stashed in their home somewhere, or buried in their backyard.

Almost everybody* with decent any amount to savings puts their money in various investment instruments that have a good chance of delivering a positive ROI, such as stocks, land, businesses, crypto, etc.

So yes, is putting your money in a crypto like Bitcoin a better investment than stuffing cash in your mattress? Could be (not in the last year it wasn't Wink). But that's not what anybody compares it to.

(* Okay, there are exceptions like drug dealers and terrorists and that kind of thing--people who can't let the world know they have any money--but most honest people don't just let cash just sit there).

You forgot the money printer.

Search for "Cantillon effect". When central banks fire up the printer, the guys closest to it (banks, mega-corps, and politicians' insider trading portfolios) get the fresh cash before the resulting inflation hits. By the time the "economic growth" trickles down to the working class, a carton of eggs costs $8.
The "Cantillon effect" is perfect to describe the cause of inequality indeed, the people who are closest to bank are getting fresh money at cheap while the furthest person from bank only getting the inflation. The rich become richer because they can grow their asset and the poor become poorer from the inflation. At one point the money will centralizes to the riches and it will result in wealth gap (we are in this stage...).

It become even worse when you started to realize that those big companies and VCs are borrowing money to rebuy stocks or fund another billionaire's project further speeding up the centralization process. The economy will be a mess if this keeps up.
Access is also what matters. When a country prints money, they do not just print it and then drop it from balloons up in the sky, and whoever gets it on the streets gets it. Access is the reason you and I do not go to our government and say Get me some of that new printed money. That money is printed to pay off stuff, and that means that we are going to see banks and rich people get it because they are the ones who are going to get paid. And this is the main reason. They are close to it because they are rich enough to matter in contract deals. Banks, for example, in 2008, got saved by the government, and yet they did pay it back eventually.

The thing is, when you and I are doing badly, we are not getting paid like that, even if it means we have to pay it back. Like if my government gave me a 100k-dollar loan right now, with the rate that those banks got, which was VERY low, then I would be able to pay it back too, because it is such a long-term thing. Hell, I could literally put it in savings at a bank, pay it back and still have 100k left when it is done. So when the deal is great, and the offer is good, it is basically as good as free money to them. But to us? If we are behind even one week, we are getting calls.

Satoshi was most definitely a poker face.
I just found out that Satoshi Nakamoto is a poker player, but in Japan as far as I remember there are several poker players who could be said to be professional poker players, I have seen in several poker tournaments, such as the same names Satoshi Tanaka and Satoshi Kuriga, they are experts in the game of poker and have won hundreds of thousands of dollars.

In the Bitcoin book I once read about poker, Satoshi Nakamoto had the initial intention of creating Bitcoin. Satoshi Nakamoto wanted to add game features such as peer-to-peer poker, which was linked to implementation on the network, but for some reason this idea was notaccomplished.

I saw the news you posted (Published: March 14 2019) it's been seven years, I think it's not a new discovery about Satoshi Nakamoto and poker.

As far as I know, poker has been around for a long time, and was widely known well before the advent of Bitcoin. So, I think it is reasonable to assume that Satoshi was a poker player. That said, I believe Satoshi was a prudent person, and I am convinced he was just a casual player who played for the sake of entertainment.

Beyond that, I think Satoshi might have intended to use poker as a starting point for testing transactions in Bitcoin, right? or, maybe he considered integrating it early on, but ultimately decided against it.
