Maybe the reason why I can reproduce it is because I rarely shut down the node with bitcoin-cli stop. I may just turn off my computer with Bitcoin running.
Lol. You should have started with that! In that case, stop doing that and see if it happens again after a graceful shutdown.
2. Post 66660781 (unedited backup) (by ABCbits) (scraped on Mon Apr 27 09:51:49 CEST 2026) in Quantum Signing Approach:
It's also worth to mention some QC-resistant signing cryptography require much much computation to sign, verity or both sign/verify.
I think almost all of them require hundreds of times more time to sign, which is really not the main problem. The main problem is verifying, which is not terrible for some algorithms.
IMO signing could be problematic on slower device, especially on hardware wallet and really old phone/mini pc. I don't how long it would actually take for each signature on such device, but it would impact UX if it took longer than 10 second for average TX.
There is no way to retrofit post-quantum (PQ) signatures into existing SegWit or legacy addresses. Their UTXOs are locked to scripts that explicitly require ECDSA or Schnorr, so they cannot be spent using a different signature scheme.
Yeah, the existing utxos cannot be changed, but I'm saying you could do something like define a new transaction version eg. 4, and then draft a BIP that defines outputs created by version 4 (hypothetically) transactions be required to use a scriptpubkey defined for quantum, while allowing both ecdsa/schnorr signatures in transaction inputs and whatever the new wuantum format would be.
The definition of a new version would be so that existing software works the same way.
Edit: and also make quantum v4 utxos unspendable in previous tx versions by throwing an error.
Your idea is similar with P2SH-P2WPKH. But i don't think it's worth it considering because,
1. Due to new QC-resistant cryptography, they still must do many other things including integrate new cryptography library on their wallet app.
2. Average people can't be sure whether the generated address is QC-resistant or not, since it's used for multiple purpose.

4. Post 66659808 (unedited backup) (by Donneski) (scraped on Mon Apr 27 00:15:44 CEST 2026) in The forum thought me everything about bitcoin investment. :
Before I joined the forum, I knew about Bitcoin but it was just on the surface. There wasn't anything deep about my knowledge of Bitcoin and Bitcoin investment. It was on the forum that I learnt most of the basics of Bitcoin from which I grew from them to my current level of bitcoin knowledge.
The forum is very helpful especially when you're intentional about learning from here. Apart from Bitcoin, you'll learn about cryptocurrency in general and other helpful knowledge you'll need to improve your depth and versatility. There are a lot of experienced users that you can always learn from almost all their posts like @JayJuanGee, @LoyceV, @Fillippone @BlackHatCoiner etc. On local board here, @CryptopreneurBrainboss @igebotz @Charles-Tim and few others are also very good in impacting helpful knowledge when you read from them.
5. Post 66658374 (unedited backup) (by SquirrelJulietGarden) (scraped on Sun Apr 26 18:00:55 CEST 2026) in More reasons why accepting payment in Bitcoin is better. :
Bitcoin has been repeated as digital gold for so many times, that people have forgotten how convenient it feels to receive cash from the Internet. Like, actual cash, with no banking intermediaries who charge .x% of the transaction, or who may block you from sending > Y amount to some person, or who may have problem with transacting with your bank.
I'm genuinely paying with bitcoin wherever I see it as a payment option, just for the sake of convenience.
You can send your bitcoins to anyone else, to any addresses but from your side, you have some advantage too like
Able to freeze an address
Able to freeze your UTXOs
They're part of full control of your bitcoin with private keys.
While nobody else can control your coins without your wallet private keys, so they can not freeze your Bitcoin UTXOs, your bitcoins in your non custodial wallets. They can not seize your bitcoins if they don't get private keys from you.
It's different than traditional banks.
It's different than many altcoin blockchains with centralization and governments can freeze your altcoins like stablecoins if they want.

Because to implement a new signature algorithm, a new bech32 address type is required.
How is this relevant to the question? A new bech32 address type is just a client-level thing, no consensus is required to add a new one. You would obviously not use the same bech32 address type for a new P2QRH script that would already imply a soft or hard fork.
I'm speaking from a user interface perspective. Of course, there are ways to add quantum signing algorithms for existing segwit and even legacy addresses, but I think it's fair to say that a good amount of end users and businesses would be confused if we did things like that.
7. Post 66657694 (unedited backup) (by bitmover) (scraped on Sun Apr 26 13:51:25 CEST 2026) in Quantum computer cracked Bitcoin security:
Looking at the community notes, the method used to break the 15-bit key relied on classical verification and does not demonstrate effective quantum key guessing.
To me, it looks like someone broke a 15-bit key using the traditional method that exists for years and just mixed it somehow with quantum. Might just be misinformation.
Of course, a lot of misinformation here.
Anything with the word "quantum" in it could be a magnet for financing, so I would expect a little bit of bias from the developer.
This was an interesting feat and there is also a lot of misinformation.
But I think there is a chance (very very small, but exists) that one day we might face a bad news regarding quantum computers and cryptocurrencies.
This might not be bitcoin related. Maybe they will break smartcontracts in Ethereum computers, or fuk up stablecoins, I don't know and I can't predict. But this makes me think about diversifying away from crypto sometimes....
8. Post 66657601 (unedited backup) (by MarryWithBTC) (scraped on Sun Apr 26 13:15:07 CEST 2026) in Quantum computer cracked Bitcoin security:
This is an important feat.
This puzzles are like a "canary in the mine" about the power of a quantum computer.
It cpould have been solved anytime, instead it was solved now, when the attention is maximum on the topic.
Wondering if we will see and acceleration of these news in the coming days.
Every lesser porwerful CRQC can now have profit, whitout expecting it to breack SHA-256.
I am also suspecting that the industry is trying to play a vital role with the quantum computer attack on bitcoin. This can be building up something for the next bull run.
Your curiosity about less powerful CRQC now having profits also hit me differently. We know that cracking 15-bit is trivial and also BlackHatCoiner pointed that it could be achieved by a classical brut forcing. But it is worth questioning why Project Eleven will award 1 BTC bounty for something that is so trivial? It means quantum played an important role, even if it's minor.
It seems the person who cracked this 15-bit key knows nothing about Bitcoin brute-force attacks. I can crack the 70-bit key in the Bitcoin puzzle in 7 minutes using only the CPU. This is already a solved puzzle, and keys of this length can be cracked in minutes if the public key is known.
I agree that 15 bit is something infinitesimal, but the claim that you can crack a 70-bit key in 7 minutes in CPU is exaggerated. A 70-key is large already ( 2^70 possibilities). This seems beyond what a normal CPU can brute force in a few minutes.
Even if they solve the puzzle now, they can't move the wallet because if there's more than one person who knows the key, the wallet can't be moved. Because they can lock the wallet by setting up a sweeper bot.
If more than one person knows the key, it doesn't prevent spending, rather it will trigger a race situation where the first valid transaction wins. A sweeper bot can only compete for the funds, does it really stop spending?
9. Post 66657304 (unedited backup) (by ABCbits) (scraped on Sun Apr 26 10:46:44 CEST 2026) in Quantum Signing Approach:
ECDSA is 32-byte pubkey + 72-byte sig. Falcon-512 is ~897-byte pubkey + ~666-byte sig. That's 15x. And at spend time, you have to reveal both pubkey and sig.
It's also worth to mention some QC-resistant signing cryptography require much much computation to sign, verity or both sign/verify.
Are there any strong candidate solutions at this point (disregarding BIP360 due to unsolved issue of short exposure attacks)?
I'm not sure if it can be considered as strong candidate, but both SHRMPS and SHRINCS sometimes mentioned as better choice than others. See,

I sometimes remember this person at random times when browsing the forum. It's been over 2 years without his presence. He definitely left a mark, and I hope he's resting in peace.
Leo was an encyclopedia of knowledge and someone you could safely turn to if you needed help with anything related to Bitcoin and privacy. When I see a technical thread and difficult case presented by someone on the forum I often wonder how long it would take Leo, if he was still here, to solve that problem and find the best possible solution. He was often the quickest and the most insightful.

13. Post 66656590 (unedited backup) (by Ronsbit) (scraped on Sun Apr 26 01:31:49 CEST 2026) in Some practical problems in the Bitcoin network:
Bitcoin transactions are slow only when compared with credit and debit card transactions, but this is not a good analogy. Most of the electronic transactions that take place today are not final settlement transactions.
Bitcoin is more useful for when final settlement is a priority. There is no other asset that can travel the world with final settlement in 10 minutes.
I agree with you here, Bitcoin can travel far and wide within a few minutes, as you have stated, compared to other methods, which would take time and also commission as well to middlemen who would facilitate the process, but with Bitcoin, not much wasted time. Under your custody, you could transfer a huge amount to clear up bills that could have taken time to do so. No commission to anybody, it is just you alone and the end receiver of the transaction, and no one else is involved.
14. Post 66656191 (unedited backup) (by John_Ahmet) (scraped on Sat Apr 25 23:03:55 CEST 2026) in Quantum computer cracked Bitcoin security:
Looking at the community notes, the method used to break the 15-bit key relied on classical verification and does not demonstrate effective quantum key guessing.
To me, it looks like someone broke a 15-bit key using the traditional method that exists for years and just mixed it somehow with quantum. Might just be misinformation.
Of course, a lot of misinformation here.
Anything with the word "quantum" in it could be a magnet for financing, so I would expect a little bit of bias from the developer.
It's quite understandable that amateurs or professionals working on quantum computers would work on Bitcoin brute-force attacks for their own self-promotion. Given that there are academic studies in this field in at least 15 countries, and hundreds of projects including amateur ones, we can start to worry about this issue when someone completes their research in this area in 5 or 10 years. These reports are not exaggerated; they are the result of a natural process that those interested in this subject have been expecting.

I do not think more than a month has ever passed without something reminding me of him again, particularly now that privacy seems to be discussed way more often than it used to and I feel like me and him shared a lot of opinions and had some similar experience too. Hell. Even some things that happen off this forum remind me of him.
It saddens me to know that he is missing all the milestones Bitcoin is going through, the recognition Monero is getting slowly, he would have definitely been thrilled.

The "key size" objection is really a witness-size objection at spend time. This is the reason hashing isn't the solution. Witness data at spend time is where the cost is, and you can't resolve this by paying to hashes of pub keys instead of pub keys.
ECDSA is 32-byte pubkey + 72-byte sig. Falcon-512 is ~897-byte pubkey + ~666-byte sig. That's 15x. And at spend time, you have to reveal both pubkey and sig.
I see, that makes sense.
Are there any strong candidate solutions at this point (disregarding BIP360 due to unsolved issue of short exposure attacks)?

Many notable users have left Bitcointalk, some passed away, others sold their accounts, and others just left without saying anything. But ever since around 2024, I think this place feels a lot quieter.
Their are some things that just happened in life that's completely out of our power, and we can't start questioning God about it. However, it's quite unfortunate that he left so soon, but in all God knows best. But the most important things that remain unforgettable even till date is the lagacy he left behind in the forum that even me as a newbie am still benefiting and learning from uptill date. Though I wasn't here when he was around but I can feel it from his great knowledge impacted that is great man. Fair well sir, may your soul and every other persons that has left to eternity rest in peace.
19. Post 66655616 (unedited backup) (by legiteum) (scraped on Sat Apr 25 20:21:01 CEST 2026) in I've moved on to other things. It's in good hands with Gavin & everyone- Satoshi:
One scenario depends on something that makes no sense based on human nature, and would involve an unprecedented aberration of human behavior, and the other would involve a set of actions that's very common.
Why does it not make any sense? If you sell all your coins, you make it blatantly clear you're Satoshi. Broadcasting to the world you're a multi-billionaire poses risks. There are people who will kill you for just stealing $10,000 from you, and you think dropping eighty billion dollars from the sky will just pass by with no risk attached?
The world knowing you are Satoshi: no downside, all upside.
Having $70 billion dollars: no downside, all upside.
This is an absurd conversation...

22. Post 66653287 (unedited backup) (by nutildah) (scraped on Sat Apr 25 01:17:25 CEST 2026) in Bitcoin Conference 2026: 500 speakers, 490 you've never heard of:
Why don't you just visit
https://2026.b.tc/agenda and see which agenda interest you based on the title and list of speakers/moderators?
You're right, this was a good call, and I ended up picking out about 5 things that sounded at least somewhat interesting.
Jeff Booth will have something interesting to say.
OK I will give him a chance, thanks.
I think they are trying to appeal to everyone.
You're right, as I go through the talks one by one it is a fairly diverse list of speakers. I'm just uninterested in any part of it that has to do with Wall Street, the government, or influencers.
Its simply stunning how you've been on this forum for over a decade and yet you've apparently learned nothing about anything. What a remarkable waste of lifetime.

At the end of the day, if the US government wanted the cap changed (why would they? why would anybody?) then they could effectively order it done and threaten a crackdown that would send the price of BTC down 99%, which nobody would want.
Congratulations. You just answered yourself that the supply cap cannot change for only as long as Bitcoin is decentralized. [...]
Huh? What are you talking about? The Bitcoin core team could make a the change to the one line of code required increase (or decrease) the 21M coin limit
tomorrow. "Centralization" has nothing to do with it.
The OP did not imply that control of the Bitcoin codebase would be changed at all, only that PoW would be replaced with a trusted server scheme. This is just an architecture change, not a governance change.
Whether the architecture change would be accepted would be up to the major players like the ETFs, the big apps, the major wallets, and the major holders of BTC. Again, none of this has to do with Bitcoin's PoW architecture.
Indeed, changing the 21 million cap is... ONE LINE OF CODE whereas moving to a more centralized architecture would be a big change.
Of course, developers can release any version they want. But if they introduce some backward-incompatible change, then all old nodes will reject it. Backward compatibility is important: if you release a new version, which would simply ignore it, then you will end up on your own coin, while thousands of existing nodes will still use the old version.
Correct. If the change is not accepted by the major players (and posters here, as awesome as we think we are, are NOT major players

), then the change would be ignored--and there would be a crisis in trying to discover a new team to shepherd the Bitcoin core codebase).
1. Made it so that Bitcoin could truly handle, natively, every single daily transaction on the planet for essentially zero transaction cost and millisecond-level clearing time, making it so that Bitcoin could truly replace all financial transactions, even the tiniest ones, and it would do it at a lower cost and higher speed than credit cards.
2. Mostly killed the idea of "decentralization" for Bitcoin because the new architecture would be controlled by a single entity or a small cooperative of closely coordinated entities that would maintain nodes tightly together, killed PoW, etc. etc.
if btc becomes more centralized and an entity takes over its authority then surely they will try to get as much profits not only to sustain their efficient operations but also for more money
Why doesn't the current Bitcoin core team try to maximize their profits? Why doesn't the entity that controls DNS for the entire internet become Amazon? Lots of things have a central authority yet are not corrupted by commercial interests. (And if you don't trust that idea at all you'd better get off the Internet because that's the way it's governed!).
There may be several differing views:
Loose hope in Bitcoin
Because it's centralized, BTC can easily be managed, controlled, and directed to whatever the central government desires. This is detrimental to us, as it could change according to their wishes. This could be even more dangerous than high volatility.
Stay in Bitcoin
The reason is, they can become old stock players who have often invested in shares of companies or other institutions, so they are used to playing with centralized assets and optimizing opportunities to gain profits. However, I don't know how long this will last.
Ignore
There may be people who are good at ignoring situations like this and just keep their views on Bitcoin as they are.
I suspect 99% of BTC holders are in the third category. They just want their bags to get bigger, they don't care about computer architecture. If Bitcoin's architecture can be changed to make it more broadly used (say for every single daily transaction done by humans), then all they would know is that they'd be richer that day.
24. Post 66653094 (unedited backup) (by AmoreJaz) (scraped on Sat Apr 25 00:13:32 CEST 2026) in Bitcoin Conference 2026: 500 speakers, 490 you've never heard of:
The Bitcoin Conference used to have better speakers. I don't see Saifedean Ammous coming in 2026, this person is the ultimate no-coiner debunker, he humiliated Peter Schiff last year.
These 490 you've never heard of are probably just random Twitter accounts that the algorithm rewards on content consistency around Bitcoin. And yes, there's probably not much of an interest.
So my question to you is, out of all the names on
this list, who do you think I should see give their talk? This is a right-or-wrong question. Please don't say Saylor or Jack Dorsey because that's wrong.
Jeff Booth will have something interesting to say.
I also don't see Vitalik Buterin in the list. Yes, he is for ETH but I believe, the development of eth is also owed to btc and so he has a lot to say also to this conference. Anyway, they can all talk but they need solid foundation in order for the public to be informed on what's fact about btc and not and how it can truly change their financial aspect.

Humans are corruptable, and they would find some justification to violate the cap.
Yes, human institutions have a track record of bending rules, especially in finance, but it is not inevitable in every system and makes Bitcoin different is that its 21 million cap is not just a promise but it is enforced by code and a decentralized network of participants. If Bitcoin were centralized, then sure, the temptation to change the cap would exist but then, it would not be as simple as humans will definitely break it. It would depend on governance structures, and how much users trust or distrust whoever is in control.
Changing the 21 million cap could be done anytime the Bitcoin core development team wants to do it--just like they could change the PoW architecture and move to trusted nodes in order to make transactions faster and cheaper.
Indeed, changing the 21 million cap is... ONE LINE OF CODE whereas moving to a more centralized architecture would be a big change.
At the end of the day, if the US government wanted the cap changed (why would they? why would anybody?) then they could effectively order it done and threaten a crackdown that would send the price of BTC down 99%, which nobody would want.
Sorry, but the world is ruled by nuclear weapons, not code

26. Post 66652461 (unedited backup) (by legiteum) (scraped on Fri Apr 24 21:13:38 CEST 2026) in I've moved on to other things. It's in good hands with Gavin & everyone- Satoshi:
People do not leave billions of dollars on the table unless they are legally forced to do so.
This is why Satoshi is the absolute chad. No common mind that puts money above everything creates something as unique as Bitcoin. My speculation is that selling all of them would reveal who he is, and his identity is probably worth more to him than the billions of dollars.
When you compare that scenario to the relatively plausible and normal scenario that "Satoshi" was a US government person or group who could not legally sell his coins, there's simply no comparison. One scenario depends on something that makes no sense based on human nature, and would involve an unprecedented aberration of human behavior, and the other would involve a set of actions that's very common. Personally, my bet is on the 99% chance, not the 1% chance.
It was never going to do that, and nobody has ever believed that it would except for a few BTC maxis.
Do you actually believe yourself when you say that three letter agencies would not mess with a growing new system that could destabilize Fiat or Banks? What would you expect, that they looked at it blowing up and shrugged their shoulders going on about their day?
Understand that the people who would make these decisions don't live in the religious realm and/or don't have a vested interest in promoting Bitcoin, and thus make
objective decisions. In any objective analysis, there's no way that there's any chance that Bitcoin could "destabilize Fiat or Banks" which doesn't even make any logical sense. And this silliness has borne itself out because here we are, 15 years after Bitcoin started, and it hasn't replaced anything nor will it.
But if the CIA really wanted to kill Bitcoin when it was in its infancy, they would have. The reason it's here is because they either didn't care, or they actually created it themselves (or the NSA, or DARPA...).
Or. They did not expect it to grow as large as it did and it became 'invincible' by the time they finally decided to crack down on it.
It became invincible because of its popularity and thus its political disposition, not because of anything technical. If the US wanted to kill Bitcoin (i.e. drive it to the shadows that things like child porn networks live in, and drive the price to $0.10 again), then it could, and it would be trivial. But there's no political will to do this, and there hasn't been, which is why Bitcoin is mainstream like it is today, and thus has a very high market cap. Bitcoin lives because US voters want Bitcoin to live. (Crypto is now the #1 political donor in the USA, much bigger than Big Oil, Big Pharmaceutical, etc.).
Also, the CIA/NSA/DARPA/etc. aren't agencies that have any reason to care about what happens to the US financial system. It's up to Congress to deal with those threats, e.g. financial regulations.

From what I can tell, the biggest question the world will have to answer is whether we will accept the frozen coins concept or not. On one hand, freezing coins is an immediate red flag as a proposal, and on the other hand, the amount of coins that are vulnerable to a quantum attacker could result in a supply shock that would make Strategy's aggressive buying look like regular stacking sats.
In a nutshell the question is what would cost much
Which I believe the former would in the long run
It feels like the start of a compromise to turn Bitcoin similar to how centralised money works.
They would want to make profit
Like good profit
So what's the benefit if everything is lower
Smart is to sell little by little.
I doubt an average person would have access to such level of technology.
Bitcoin doesn't really care about the owner but who controls the key.
29. Post 66649829 (unedited backup) (by Free Market Capitalist) (scraped on Fri Apr 24 05:10:01 CEST 2026) in MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’:
But it sounds very bearish to not be at least 12%, which are the dividends.
Well, the problem with Strategy, at least so far, is that its purchases have yielded a much lower CAGR than Bitcoin’s, since it bought a lot when the price was high and little or nothing when it dropped. This could change with STRC, but for now, 12% wouldn’t be enough—it would have to be higher.
But I wanted to mention something else. Deep down, I hope Saylor does well, that he triggers a supply shock, and that the price goes way up, because I’m HODLing Bitcoin and I’ll benefit from that rise. I imagine you share that sentiment. But for someone as concerned about privacy as I’ve seen you in many of your posts, doesn’t the fact that Strategy is accumulating so much Bitcoin seem counterproductive to you? The Bitcoin they buy isn’t for P2P, and everyone who buys Strategy products—which are like a derivative exposure to Bitcoin—is KYC-compliant. The more Bitcoin they accumulate, the less Bitcoin is available for peer-to-peer exchange.
Anyway, I suppose there’s nothing we can do about this, and besides, no one is holding a gun to the head of the individual selling Bitcoin that Strategy ends up buying.
It shouldn't be too difficult for them to use part of the ATM proceeds to build a corresponding dividend reserve.
This is what I would do: a well-preserved dividend reserve would have a greater reassuring power than a gargantuan amount of bitcoin in its possession, in my humble opinion.
Apparently, this line of thought is not shared inside Strategy.
The problem with that is that it is dilutive. If they sell MSTR via an ATM to boost their cash reserves, they’re diluting the Bitcoin per share, but they’ve done it before, so they could do it again. It would make more sense to do this with STRC sales, but it’s weird, to say the least. I sell STRC, which pays a high dividend, and I keep the cash from your purchase as a reserve to pay you the dividend. But that’s actually how the system is set up. If reserves drop significantly in terms of months coverage, I think they’ll have no choice but to set aside more cash one way or another but it will probably be with the STRC ATM.

31. Post 66647735 (unedited backup) (by Software Hospital) (scraped on Thu Apr 23 16:21:43 CEST 2026) in Testnet4 node constantly having its index corrupted:
I just want to report this here, before writing on the mailing list.
I have experienced this numerous times already. The testnet4 node cannot start because between the time it shut down, and the time it started again, the chain had been reorged, and it gets Error: Cannot read last block filter index. The only way to restart is to reindex using bitcoind --reindex. I have not found another way around this.

I cannot be the only person testing bitcoin who's experienced this. This is another good argument in favor of
removing the 20-min difficulty rule.
Problem Testnet4 node crashes on restart after a chain reorg the block filter index gets out of sync with the actual chain. Quick Fix Run with reindex flag bashbitcoind -testnet4 -reindex Better Solutions Option 1 Delete only the filter index: bashrm -rf ~/.bitcoin/testnet4/indexes/blockfilter
bitcoind -testnet4 Less time than full reindex. Option 2 — Disable block filter index (if you don't need it): bashbitcoind -testnet4 -blockfilterindex=0 Option 3 — Add to bitcoin.conf: ini[testnet4]
blockfilterindex=0 Root Cause Testnet4 has aggressive reorgs. When the node restarts, the filter index references an old block hash that no longer exists on the reorganized chain crash. Recommended Use Option 1 delete filter index only fastest recovery without full reindex
32. Post 66647063 (unedited backup) (by Free Market Capitalist) (scraped on Thu Apr 23 12:34:25 CEST 2026) in MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’:
The cost of the dividends is $1.5 billion per year.
The
present cost of dividends is $1.5 billion per year. Not so long ago it was about half that. And it keeps growing.
He raised $2.5 billion in a week. I don't feel like there's a problem here.
He raised $2.5 billion
during the record-breaking week so far. There have been weeks when he hasn’t raised any money, and other weeks when the price of the preferred has fallen quite a bit.
If bitcoin continues to grow by 20-30% CAGR, then his company not only survives but thrives, and Bitcoin would not have to skyrocket. I don't understand how he can go bankrupt by the dividend obligations when they represent ~2.5% of the total underlying asset value.
First, as of today, Bitcoin CAGR for the past 5 years is 9%. And I’m talking about the last five years because it’s a metric Saylor used to mention a lot when it suited him – when he was at 50% – but he doesn’t talk about it anymore.
As I said before, dividend payments aren’t a fixed figure; they continue to grow. Furthermore, dividends aren’t paid out based on assets, but on profits. A company that has a lot of assets but has been making losses for several years will reduce its dividend, and more often than not, suspend it altogether. What he’s doing is paying dividends based on unrealised profits that he doesn’t have, in the hope that he will have them in the future.
The assets are supposed to cover the principal, not the dividends. In order, they cover STRF, STRC, STRK, STRD and MSTR, not the dividends paid by the preferred shares. If, hypothetically, there were to be a bankruptcy, that would be the order of priority for repayment.
What will he do if, at some point, he can’t raise cash by selling STRC to pay dividends? Sell Bitcoin? That would cause a price crash. Suspend the dividend? More of the same.
We agree that if the price of Bitcoin goes his way, he’ll come out on top, but it could also go very badly for him and he could go bankrupt.
33. Post 66646207 (unedited backup) (by tomboi) (scraped on Thu Apr 23 06:02:49 CEST 2026) in [OPEN] Tomboi.io No KYC Crypto Exchange | Review Campaign | $100 Reward:
Continuing the list of changes
- The "get rate" button on the main page should also not be there. the page constantly reloading (like the order page) would be a better approach in my opinion. If the concern is people abusing this, then set rate limits on your backend.
So Fetch price from a third party provider --> Cache it --> Use that to update the input-fields in real time as the user types and without constantly making multiple requests to the API provider.
We’ve already considered all possible ways to implement this, but unfortunately, due to the nature of NoJS, it’s technically impossible to do so.
1) To automatically update values as they’re entered into the input field, we’d need JavaScript, which goes against our requirements.
2) Making the page refresh like on the order page won’t work either, since the amount the user entered in the field will be reset to the default value.
Therefore, I don’t know how to do this without the “get rate” button. If there are any solutions for this, please let me know.
- You're saying the email is optional, explain why it is for to the user? Would you automatically contact him if a transaction fails for whatever reason and use to process his refund, or is it a "just in case" type of thing?
- It says the email is optional. Since this is a privacy-oriented exchange, I would like some information on how adding my email can help in the process. Is it potentially helpful on refunds? Why not use an optional refund address instead?
This feature was not intended for communication; rather, it was designed to allow users to request order information via email. However, since we subsequently implemented the PGP guarantee letter system, we have removed this feature, as it no longer serves any particular purpose.
- In the Online Chat, a dumb download link for the access key in txt, signed by your PGP, could be useful. People are really lazy to do things manually!
- Refreshing the page automatically is really annoying. In the Online Chat, I was typing a message, and because it constantly refreshes every ~20 seconds, I cannot finish my sentence. The easiest fix is to save the message locally, or not refresh the page if the user is typing a message. Since you have a "Refresh" button, adding another that disables auto-refreshing wouldn't hurt.
- Again, I would rather optional disabling of the auto-refreshing feature.
Unfortunately, due to the specific nature of our project, it is technically impossible to implement a “no JS” solution that would preserve the message being typed when the chat is refreshed. However, to address this issue, we have now added a button to toggle automatic page refresh on and off.
- There is a "Copy exchange" button in the bottom of the page. I could not understand what it does, until I clicked it. I do not understand what the use of this is. If I want to exchange again 52k sats for XMR, I would just click "New exchange" or the tomboi.io logo.
This feature was specifically designed to save not only the amount but also the wallet address, so that new users who don’t yet trust us can split their desired transaction into multiple payments without having to re-enter their wallet address each time. Instead, they can simply click the “Copy Order” button, and their wallet address, the selected direction, and the amount will already be filled in.
- In the receiving-coin dropdown, I noticed that there is only one option for USDT (BEP20), while looking at the available reserves, it made me think it would support the other three as well. May I presume this is only temporarily unavailable due to insufficient reserves? I don't see what the problem is with allowing the other three; you could display a message such as "Due to lack of liquidity, you can receive up to x USDT (TRC20)".
In the coming days, we will replenish the liquidity pools, and all coins on the list will be available.
- The "requires X confirmations" should be for processing and sending the crypto, not for showing the payment. Not showing the user's payment until the transaction receives the appropriate amount of confirmations is bad UX. That would also make the message "awaiting payment" very misleading. So if you decide to keep the current approach (which I'm very strongly against) you should change the message to "Awaiting confirmations".
The TXIDs should also be clickable and take you directly to a blockexplorer. Mempool.space for BTC, Solscan for Solana, etc.
- I cannot stress this enough but It really hurts the eyes to have both circular and the lazy loading progress bar at the top of the page. In the order page more than anything else, because that page keeps refreshing all the time.
Keep the top progress bar, or maybe just a SHIMMER effect on the values that are going to update (like the USD values for example).
- If the address is invalid, empty the address field. If the amount is invalid, empty the amount field. Don't empty everything for any error, that's extra work for the user and bad UX.
- I have Chrome opened with multiple tabs, couldn't really figure out where your website is at... I thought I had Monero's official website opened. So, a proper logo and favicon that represent your brand!
- The minimum amount I can send is displayed incorrectly. It says that minimum is 0.000398 BTC, I enter the same, get "The amount is less than the minimum allowed." I enter a slightly higher value, "0.00039801", still get the same error. It did accept it when I increased it by 100 sats: "0.000399". I cannot reproduce the same with max.
- The Payment Address field has a minor bug, in the image shown below. This extra white character in the end is not ignored at all wallets. Check what happens when I paste it on Wasabi Wallet at the second image.
- I have sent 52k sats. Since it is auto-refreshing, it gives me the impression that it will soon show to my screen that funds have arrived with 0 confirmations. But, nothing is shown.
- The favicon is Monero coin png, which is the same that getmonero.org uses. Use something else, this might confuse someone. The title of the page is "Exchange Result". I think you should be more precise, such as "BTC / XMR exchange | Tomboi.io".
- While I am waiting for my transaction to get confirmed, the "Time left to pay" keeps declining. I have 30 minutes left. As a user, I wonder what happens if 30 minutes pass and it isn't confirmed yet. This is another argument for displaying that you've received it on your mempool.
- My transaction has just been confirmed. The page has not changed at all. It should have at least told me that it has received the funds, and is waiting for another confirmation. The XMR receiving amount should also lock now, and not change on every refresh.
- The transaction got a second confirmation, and the XMR was sent. I wonder what would have happened if there weren't ~14 minutes left.
I used your exchange again to trade XMR for BTC, and I think I have found a bug. The XMR transaction got only one confirmation, but the BTC were sent to me. But the page said "Requires 10 confirmations".
Corrected.

35. Post 66644964 (unedited backup) (by DYING_S0UL) (scraped on Wed Apr 22 20:14:07 CEST 2026) in AI has come to make people become lazy:
Honestly, I have come to agree with this.
AI is going to make a lot of people lazy, and we're already seeing it. People can't write a simple email without asking an LLM. Students can't think through an essay. Designers can't sketch an idea without generating forty variations first.
The muscle is atrophying in real time.
It made us lazy and as well as productive at the same time (if used properly).
I needed an app that can help me with my daily expenses. So instead of going to play store, or manually coding everything, I being lazy, used openai's codex and build the apps in a few hours. Fully automated, no a single line of code handwritten. The only thing i gave was a clear set of instructions and it did everything, from writing the code to designing app to setting up logics to creating each and everything and lastly building the app.
So what can i say? I have no choice but to agree with you.

Lazy, but productive/efficient if used differently/positively.

37. Post 66641432 (unedited backup) (by tomboi) (scraped on Tue Apr 21 19:55:13 CEST 2026) in [OPEN] Tomboi.io No KYC Crypto Exchange | Review Campaign | $100 Reward:
Thank you for your feedback. We will immediately begin addressing the issues.First thing that should be fixed right NOW:
- You accept invalid addresses. I have tried to type (invalid) bitcoin addresses, typing EVM address for Solana, and it seems like they're going through.
See here (the receiving address bc1qv332asw8pys3xy3evcgranru23pfdgax4kjttpdsfsdfqsdfqsdfqsdf):
User typo = you're unable to process his transaction = one refund ticket from your customers!
It seems to be partially broken. Based on the behavor I got, I'm going to assume you're using regex, or characters count/if the string starts with bc1 etc. as an indicator as opposed to checksum verification.
- Address checksum not verified. I slightly changed a character in my XMR address, so that it becomes invalid, and your exchange normally allows me to proceed and send BTC for XMR. This is not good. I see one of your terms warns this might happen ("User is responsible for destination address correctness.") but it is absolutely unacceptable regardless. It is very easy to make a mistake when copy pasting an address, and it is also very easy to detect whether the checksum is correct. Do this for every network. Treat the user as a dumb person unless you love answering tickets!
- It's pointless to update the page constantly, if there is no LOGIN key (if the user never sent or restored anything).
- Find another placement for the min/max. You should show the USD value of the SENDING crypto, just like you're doing it for for the RECEIVING crypto.
The TXIDs should also be clickable and take you directly to a blockexplorer. Mempool.space for BTC, Solscan for Solana, etc.
- It's pointless to show "exchange has been succesfully created". If the user has been redirected, and the page says "awaiting for payment", it's already self explanatory.
- Set a default value for users first visiting the page. Say 500$ for example instead of leaving the the inputs empty.
Corrected
- A "copy to clipboard" button for both the address as well as the amounts.
Unfortunately, this isn't technically possible in the noJS model, but we've added a feature that highlights wallets and amounts when clicked for your convenience
We are continuing to address the issues you reported, and we will send you a list once we are finished.
38. Post 66640697 (unedited backup) (by FP91G) (scraped on Tue Apr 21 16:40:43 CEST 2026) in The only lottery I like to play:
I think more knowledgeable people are involved in mining than those who buy lottery tickets at the post office. Commercial ticket-based lotteries are very dangerous because the organizers know all the winner's details, but in a mining lottery, this information is hidden, making it very difficult to find out who won.
I completely agree with you, conventional (physical) lotteries are dangerous because they can reveal the identities of winners (either due to negligence or deliberate action on the part of the organizer), and I think the manipulation is still possible as long as the process is controlled by the lottery organizer (centralized). So, doesn't that mean: There are two dangers, that someone could experience from this type of lottery, right ?
Therefore, decentralized lotteries (lottery mining) are far more trustworthy, and fairer than conventional lotteries. Furthermore, the chances of a miracle (winning the lottery) via mining Bitcoin are much greater, and also the percentage of luck can be increased by purchasing lots of mining devices as @BlackHatCoiner stated. Here, it is :
bitcointalk.org - Lottery mining: a cost-benefit analysisThe more devices a miner buys, the greater their expenses. A miner can buy a 3.3 kW ASIC, but paying $100-300 per month for 1,000 kW can be very expensive.
And a single ASIC has a very low chance of finding a block. Therefore, every solo miner must calculate his capabilities.
39. Post 66639562 (unedited backup) (by stwenhao) (scraped on Tue Apr 21 09:11:13 CEST 2026) in Fixing Testnet4: proposal:
Reorging a deep chain is extremely disruptive. How do you handle that?
This is just testnet. Previous testnets had literally hundreds of reorged blocks.
it may cause double spending, and wallet confusion as well
Which is why exchanges like AltQuick require 100 confirmations. Also note, that the only reorged thing is related to CPU blocks, so regular users are unaffected. And coinbase transactions below 100 confirmations can be always reorged, even in mainnet, just because they are unspendable before reaching it.
In general, I think BlackHatCoiner handled it correctly. As long as it affects only testnet4, and nothing else, like mainnet, it should be safe to use. And it is definitely better than nothing, now it is just a matter of convincing miners to use it. If the difficulty will start dropping, then users will no longer have to wait an hour for ASIC blocks, and could get things confirmed every 10 minutes, as it should be.
But if the large portion of the hash rate still remains on old software the CPU chain could just pull ahead substantially in terms of of chainwork before enough ASICs switch over right?
Only ASIC blocks affect chainwork in a meaningful way. A single ASIC block could reorg millions of min-difficulty blocks. Also, splits are rarely 50/50, so it is more likely to see 10/90 split, or similar. And then, the question is: where the hashrate majority would be? Transactions made by users are only confirmed in ASIC blocks anyway, so reorgs will mainly affect only miners. It is very likely, that transactions made by users will land in both chains, so they will be confirmed everywhere.
40. Post 66639389 (unedited backup) (by BayAreaCoins) (scraped on Tue Apr 21 07:45:25 CEST 2026) in Fixing Testnet4: proposal:
I have completed the technical brief of the softfork:
https://batmanbytes.github.io/testnet4-softfork/. I've tried to keep it clean, short and descriptive enough. This will be read primarily by miners, so we don't want to make it difficult to read by over-explaining the technical details.
I believe the next step is direct outreach via email.
In theory, what if I or my service AltQuick.com don't get an email? Nothing at all?

42. Post 66638632 (unedited backup) (by Patikno) (scraped on Mon Apr 20 22:53:55 CEST 2026) in The only lottery I like to play:

43. Post 66638036 (unedited backup) (by cryptosize) (scraped on Mon Apr 20 20:05:01 CEST 2026) in Can oil still dominate in a renewable world?:
There is no "green era." Global oil consumption keeps hitting record highs every year. The "transition" exists only in press releases, not reality.
Every wind turbine, solar panel, and EV battery is built, shipped, and maintained with hydrocarbons. There's no wind turbine factory powered by wind. The whole "green movement" sits on an oil foundation its advocates pretend doesn't exist.
Billions in the developing world have no path out of poverty without cheap hydrocarbons, and no amount of Western carbonhysteria changes thermodynamics.
So far, yes, but imagine a world where all countries are electrically interconnected (the equivalent of internet for energy), all energy is produced by solar/wind/hydro/geothermal, excess energy production (i.e. solar panels during the noon) is turned into BTC (think of it as a
"battery" as Saylor has said, but without toxic elements such as lithium/lead, no need to replace batteries every 10 years and the added bonus of appreciation over time) and when a country has a deficit (since renewables don't work 24/7/365), they can import energy from another country and pay in BTC.
Think out of the box: BTC is a crucial part of the equation if they
truly want to achieve
Net Zero by 2050.
Dedollarization will go along with de-petroleum-ization in the post-oil era.

Renewables + BTC can definitely replace the petrodollar, if there's a will (especially by China).
44. Post 66637993 (unedited backup) (by cryptosize) (scraped on Mon Apr 20 19:53:25 CEST 2026) in AI has come to make people become lazy:
Honestly, I have come to agree with this.
AI is going to make a lot of people lazy, and we're already seeing it. People can't write a simple email without asking an LLM. Students can't think through an essay. Designers can't sketch an idea without generating forty variations first.
The muscle is atrophying in real time.
It's the same thing with cars/trucks (they increase productivity, no doubt about that):
People have become too lazy to walk -> fat pandemic.
45. Post 66637008 (unedited backup) (by puloweh555) (scraped on Mon Apr 20 15:19:13 CEST 2026) in AI has come to make people become lazy:
Honestly, I have come to agree with this.
AI is going to make a lot of people lazy, and we're already seeing it. People can't write a simple email without asking an LLM. Students can't think through an essay. Designers can't sketch an idea without generating forty variations first.
The muscle is atrophying in real time.
This essentially depends on the person. If AI is the foundation for anything they will become lazy and even stagnate. Conversely, if someone uses AI as an assistant they will become more creative.
For example, if someone uses AI as a cooking reference, they can use AI to prepare all the ingredients on the table super-fast. However, deciding what to cook how many spices to use and how to serve it so it tastes delicious is still their job as a human. AI cuts their research time from hours to seconds, freeing up their remaining brain time for more productive activities.
What I mean is AI works using probability it knows what usually happens beforehand because it can collect data. But in the real world, AI can't replace your creativity. So if you only rely on AI, your brain will weaken, but if you make AI a tool, for example AI that collects the materials, but you still have to be the architect behind the breakthrough then it will not make you lazy.
