2. Post 66721378 (unedited backup) (by PrivacyG) (scraped on Thu May 14 00:39:37 CEST 2026) in Switzerland Could Not Even Get 100,000 Signatures to Adopt Bitcoin as Reserves!:
I read it all, and I can't agree more with you because the cypherpunk angle is completely right, but the majority wanted it to be accepted because that looked like the only way to increase adoption. Institutions and governments investing in Bitcoin will make other people adopt it too.
Does this 'adoption' not still relate to the fact that they want a more expensive Bitcoin so they can make more money off of it? When I read about 'Bitcoin adoption', it pretty much means the same thing to me.
People are very short sighted in my opinion. If this was the 'only way' to increase adoption then what happens if this initiative is successful? There is a point where the Bitcoin adoption rate reaches a peak. We have to accept that. Unlimited growth is impossible. So if no other thing can be done to increase adoption after their country adopts Bitcoin as a Reserve, what happens next? Do they become disappointed and sell their Bitcoin because no more can be done?
-----
What I'm suggesting is: instead of holding this junk and let those bankers steal from foreign countries through inflation, would it not be better if those States moved towards some tangible sovereignty by selling some of their junk bag holdings for bitcoin?
It would be. We are clearly not doing great if most people are either not holding Bitcoin at all or are holding it in custodial wallets and accounts while they are hoping for and asking governments to hold some as a Reserve. But at the same time. I would much rather see more REAL Assets in the Reserve than Fiat. I do not feel secured knowing my country holds a lot of one click inflatable Currencies in its Reserves. I do feel safe knowing they hold Gold and I definitely would feel safe if they held Bitcoin. Bitcoin is arguably one of the best Assets to hold as a Reserve particularly considering its economics.
3. Post 66721334 (unedited backup) (by avp2306) (scraped on Thu May 14 00:23:01 CEST 2026) in Doesn't this look like an AI bubble?:
One a quick glimpse, it does look like a bubble, but on the other hand, the AI experienced a sudden development. I remember when ChatGPT was published, and it reached 1 million users in 5 days. And it's only been 3 years since then, look what we have now with Claude and Image/Video generation. Imagine what there might be in 10 years.
This is a temporary phase when we're still discovering where AI is useful. It cannot last forever, because the revenues from users do not justify the expenses. The positive speculation of those companies, however, can last for a very long time, from investors, bankers and governments who cannot wait to see how this technology will give them the edge.
I would not take the bet that the "AI bubble" of Anthropic, Google and OpenAI will burst as long as there is a money printer!
Yeah it may looks like a bubble at first glance, but this phase can still be called as accelerated innovation. Just the same as your example on which Chatgpt hit that 1m users per day, this phase that there's real demand for using this technology.
Maybe temporarily revenues did not match and meet their expenses, but as long as the institutions and people see this as useful tool, this can stay for many years. I also think they don't care about getting immediate profits and what they aim is for long term positioning.
4. Post 66721303 (unedited backup) (by Kruw) (scraped on Thu May 14 00:13:07 CEST 2026) in Caution for Bitcoin Knots users and non-users:
It's not clear to me why WabiSabi coinjoin eventually contains at least one non-replayable coin as an ancestor.
Eventually all transactions will inherit non-replayable histories, coinjoins (any kind, not just WabiSabi) are a convenient way to acquire replay protection without sacrificing custody.
Why can an attacker not broadcast the coinjoins in Knots chain?
If the coinjoin contains any input that has a BIP110 violating transaction as an ancestor, that means the descendants can't exist on the Knots chain. So, the coinjoin signature created on the Core chain would be invalid on the Knots chain because it would be attempting to create new coins "out of thin air".

LOL. Okay, sure, my pet rock is more valuable than anything in the world to me. But here in the real world there's a thing called a "free market" and that device determines objective value.
A free market does not determine how valuable bitcoin is to you and me, and there is no such thing as "objective value".
No, it determines its value to the free market. That's why it's called "market cap". Nobody cares what you, or me or some random person thinks of an instrument, the only thing that matters in the real world is what the free market will pay for it.
You can jump up and down all you want and say that NVDA should not be worth $4T, but it won't do anything.
And in the free market, you are absolutely free to pay somebody twice the going rate for their Bitcoin because you love it so much. Nobody will stop you. You aren't free to force somebody else to pay you for that though.
But just to circle back,
at one point the market cap for ETH was 80% of Bitcoin's. That fact diminished one aspect of the Bitcoin maxi's idea that it's
absolutely impossible that anything will ever be more valuable than BTC.
But to be clear, we're taking about investing in Bitcoin in the public markets. I think many here would absolutely love for BTC to drop to $0.001 in price so they could buy them all because they love to simply have BTC for its own sake. That's an... interesting, um, fetish

.
But virtually everybody else buys BTC in order to sell it later for more. If you find yourself not understanding a lot of the discussions here, that difference is probably why.
[Emotional rant deleted]
That you have to make bitcointalk more nasty like that doesn't help your arguments. It actually diminishes them.

There was a period when ETH was more valuable than Bitcoin, and while Bitcoin subsequently pulled way ahead, Bitcoin is still only about one half of the total crypto market value, with the other half being spread among the next 6-8 coins down the list.
There has never been a period in history when Ethereum had a greater market cap than Bitcoin.
You're right, it only reached 80% of Bitcoin's value. I don't think this changes my point though.
And also, greater market cap does not equate greater value.
LOL. Okay, sure, my pet rock is more valuable than anything in the world
to me. But here in the real world there's a thing called a "free market" and that device determines
objective value.
(And we're talking about
meme investments here with no intrinsic practical value--all of the things you say Bitcoin does it would still do if the market price was $1 per coin--so it's pretty funny to hear that the value is not the one the market gave it

).
7. Post 66719723 (unedited backup) (by Synchronice) (scraped on Wed May 13 15:30:38 CEST 2026) in Proposal for network consent to randomly distribute 1.1 MLN BTC from Satoshi.:
OP, what if you make a proposal of Satoshi's coins to be randomly distributed to other wallet addresses but then Satoshi's wallet suddenly wakes up and starts transferring money? How will you feel? More and more old era wallet addresses are waking up and what gives us a guarantee that Satoshi's wallet is left without the owner? Maybe he still has access to the wallet but doesn't plan to use it right now? We shouldn't touch anyone's address, doesn't matter what happens.
I could create a special website, invite powerful programmers and bitcoin.org owners to carry out this operation.
You can invite powerful programmers and bitcoin.org owner but are you sure that they'll accept or even read your invitation?
Bitcoin is not a democracy. If 51% of the users want to change the protocol, they cannot force the rest 49% to adopt the change.
Bitcoin is consensus-based. It only takes 1 user to make a change, and he now belongs to an entirely different network. If other users want to adopt his changes, they can just download and run his client. The Bitcoin and Censorcoin networks will then coexist, and the more people sell Bitcoin for Censorcoin, the more successful Censorcoin is.
So well and beautifully said.
8. Post 66718461 (unedited backup) (by d5000) (scraped on Wed May 13 04:11:19 CEST 2026) in Switzerland Could Not Even Get 100,000 Signatures to Adopt Bitcoin as Reserves!:
A strategic reserve does not render bitcoin as worse as a store-of-value than before the strategic reserve, which is what it ultimately matters.
My logic is the following: Central banks need strategic reserves to sustain their fiat. If they switch from gold to Bitcoin, or add Bitcoin to their portfolios, they want to strengthen their fiat currencies with an asset that could increase in price, and thus increase the trust on the USD/EUR/whatever.
So a strategic reserve of BTC is a statement that they won't abandon fiat, at the contrary: they want to increase its value.
A strategic reserve would significantly increase the liquidity on the bitcoin market, which would further increase the price and make the value proposition even clearer.
This is only true while the strategic reserve is growing. It can however also be sold, like some countries have sold gold in the past decades.
My problem with this is that
Central Banks could make their policy (buy, sell or stay idle) depend on the features Bitcoin adds. If it's something the State doesn't like - they could switch to "sell" mode, or support a hard fork. The example I always bring up for this would be a privacy enhancement, like MWEB for Litecoin.
If that leads to turmoil in the Bitcoin market, the store of value function would be weakened. Thus, strategic reserves, in my opinion, add risk to the Bitcoin ecosystem.
9. Post 66718427 (unedited backup) (by lontivero) (scraped on Wed May 13 03:32:02 CEST 2026) in Ray Dalio critic explanation of the reason central banks will not touch bitcoin:
Trezor can sign Wasabi coinjoin transactions. Also, banks don't want to let everybody (other competitor banks included) what they do with the money. They could be okay reporting how much the have but that's something completely different.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember Trezor removing the coinjoin feature for regulatory reasons.
Trezor disabled the feature in their Trezor Suite but the Trezor Hardware Wallet still can sign coinjoins automatically.

I will admit that the "sell for what?" comment is hilarious.
Yes, I agree that this sudden switch in behavior is concerning. However, I have two questions:
- Hasn't Saylor already sold at least once bitcoin in the past?
- Why was he forced to sell now? I thought he keeps $2 billion+ in stock exactly for being consistent with his liabilities.
Yes they sold small part of their holdings before and say they do that for tax reasons.
It is that deferred tax asset not a change of heart that explains Saylor’s openness to selling. The same move was made before. On Dec. 22, 2022, Strategy sold 704 BTC at $16,776 per coin and repurchased 810 BTC two days later in a tax-loss harvesting maneuver designed to carry capital losses back against prior gains. The structure now is larger, but the logic is identical.
They also tackled up the recent and past action to be done by Strategy here
https://bitcoinmagazine.com/news/strategy-mstr-buys-43-million-more-bitcoinWith this it shows that those selling is not new and they eventually they accumulate later on to recover.

Not that we aware of. Since we just believe what we told without any proof of reserve.
And on the issue of selling
I believe they planning to let people know that selling isn't off the table (phong stated same last year)
So it would be easier and have lesser impact when they do sell after pre informing investors.
It's like reminding them that bitcoin is a liquid treasury asset that can be use if necessary.
The drop from $100K might have given them a wake up call that anything can happen
If they short of fund there's ATM and STRC though they have limit to how much they can help.
And he isn't selling now. Just letting people know that it is possible.
They have no reason to sell now especially with the performance on Q2
Cash reserve and maturity of debt is till 2028
Dividends can be covered with the performance they are having for the past weeks.
13. Post 66717623 (unedited backup) (by lontivero) (scraped on Tue May 12 21:41:37 CEST 2026) in Ray Dalio critic explanation of the reason central banks will not touch bitcoin:
Central Banks, or any other organization, could provide the service to coinjoin banks bitcoin holdings. Wasabi Wallet can do that and the coordinator code and binary are already available for whoever is willing to run an instance.
The problem is that Wasabi Wallet requires the private keys to be exposed to the computer running it. You cannot coinjoin using Wasabi with cold storage funds, and holders like Strategy or central banks must practice the highest levels of security, such as multi-sig and airgapped signing devices.
Since central banks generally report their assets, I cannot find one good reason for practicing privacy techniques for their bitcoin holdings... unless they want to lie for the assets they own.
Trezor can sign Wasabi coinjoin transactions. Also, banks don't want to let everybody (other competitor banks included) what they do with the money. They could be okay reporting how much the have but that's something completely different.

I understand that the UX is the primary problem of this feature, but what about this: at Wallet Settings -> Coinjoin, below "Anonymity score target", a second text field by the name "Skip remixing for up to these hours" (0 by default).
Each time a round was successfully finished, the wallet would select a random value between 0 and that value, and skip remixes for those hours. It would be for those who seek extreme levels of privacy.
Maybe something like that can be built with

16. Post 66715098 (unedited backup) (by d5000) (scraped on Tue May 12 03:58:31 CEST 2026) in Could stablecoin eventually overshadow Bitcoin usage:
The question for me is always: Why use a stablecoin if you could also use a Paypal-style service?
Stablecoins look more transparent, but in reality I think the main difference is regulatory in nature. Paypal-style "currencies" aren't available in all countries, while a blockchain currency can't be really denied to somebody only because they come from a certain geographic region.
Thus they are offering at least a bit of the censorship resistance Bitcoin offers. Even if they can be censored (via blacklists) censorship attempts have to be published in a smart contract code on-chain and thus are transparent. In contrast, in bank accounts or PayPal-style currencies everything is managed internally and you have no idea until you get hit by a freeze or account closure.
I think also the risk is smaller to be censored by a stablecoin company because it is more costly to add lots of addresses to blacklists, and so they really will only censor cases where an authority has demanded action, but never "because of suspicious usage" (that kind of censorship, however, still can be done by CEXes).
But stablecoins can't provide one of the main features of Bitcoin: to decouple value from inflation.
Thus, I'm sure that if Bitcoin adoption continues and volatility in consequence continues to fall, we will see a reduction of stablecoin usage eventually, because Bitcoin already offers the stability people need for a "payment currency".
BTW: nice answer @BlackHatCoiner. That aspect to "popularize blockchain concepts without volatility" is often overlooked I think.

18. Post 66713631 (unedited backup) (by Satofan44) (scraped on Mon May 11 19:21:01 CEST 2026) in "Blockchain is useful, Bitcoin is not" — How do you respond to this?:
@BlackHatCoiner @satofan44 let's not be too harsh for Ethetrum. The DAO recovery effort was a one time event that was seen as foundational in restoring trust to the project, simply because some developers were acting carelessly and also too many people decided to put money towards that cause. It has never happened since but then again, we saw it happen on a foundational level with Arbitrum who froze their entire chain to reclaim hacked funds just very recently. So now there's the layer twos who are doing the exact same thing.
This claim is false. This one time event did not restore trust, it led to a collapse of the core principles that only Bitcoin sustains. The further developments in Ethereum have completely centralized it, introduced completely centralized layer 2's that rely on master keys and all sorts of shenanigans that Bitcoin is against. Once you make what you perceive to be "one time events", you start down a endless road of compromises and changes in opinion that never stop. Since the DAO event, Ethereum can consistently been centralizing itself. If you are too blind to see that, that does not change the reality of it.
My worry though is also valid for bitcoin because big industry heads are too buddy buddy with the government and the authorities lately.
"Big industry" can't do anything to Bitcoin, with or without the governments support. We have tested our resiliency several times, and each victory has led to a strengthening of the fundamental principles. That is the core difference between us and shitcoins. We could have bailed Mt.Gox out, but we chose not to. Others bailed many projects out in many different ways, even "one time events" are grave sins that can never be undone.
"Begging" should not be meant literally, but as a term to describe just the payment or any other process where you have to communicate with an exchange to adopt a new protocol. And these payments should be cheaper for tokens on existing blockchains (at least Gemini agrees with me here

But you're correct about my lack of expertise, at least I've never listed a token myself on an exchange.).
They should, but in most cases they are not and that is why I have given you a good example with implementations that are basically just a copy paste of an existing token. If you adopt some tokens on Ethereum, adding another costs anything. And before you go into the ideological bullshit about them having to verify the tokens and do due diligence, most exchanges do not do that. You pay, you sign some bullshit contract and give them information relating to basic data (supply) or APIs and that is it. Just because some have stricter listing requirements, that does not mean it is the norm -- it is the exception.
I think the bigger issue is anyway to have to maintain an own consensus mechanism. Some exchanges also wouldn't accept coins on completely private blockchains (which are relatively easy to maintain/manage). And having to incentive a relatively safe validator set (e.g. a PoS mechanism incentived with some "ecosystem" premine) is more work than just create a token on an existing chain. I think it largely depends on the coin issuer's financial capacity, an own blockchain should be always more expensive if it's a "real" (public] blockchain.
Why would that be an issue with big companies, especially those that have several divisions and partnerships? It is almost trivial really in those cases. Most of the ways in which Bitcoin can be attacked do not apply in cases like that anyway, they have much fewer things to worry about when you can revert things together with partners besides denying access to the system in the first place.
There is also the network effect of established chains like Ethereum and Solana. Here you can address a large user base of potential buyers if they can use their favourite DEXes to acquire the tokens. In this case, you can say that you "outsource" a bit of your marketing costs, as you automatically "reach out" to Ethereum / Solana users using these DEXes already.
You are thinking like someone who has been in crypto too long and got the angle confused a little bit. An existing product whose userbase entirely comes from non-crypto sources does not have any need of this at all. We are talking about business process improvements, not tapping into new markets. Costs, efficiency, control matter, network effect of networks is irrelevant for that.
The thing is for me - in an ideal world, that all shouldn't be necessary, they should run their private PayPal-style coins (with or without some kind of ledger hashing) or private blockchains, and the whole system would be more efficient. But I think in the short term, from the point of view of the RWA token issuers, there is less audience available for that approach than if you release your token on an established chain. Bitcoin is currently not really in that "game" because the mechanisms you could use with offchain components, like RGB and sidechains, still have few users (and others, like Omni, Counterparty and ... Runes, are too limited).
Those that are seeking to leverage the network effects from existing chains are mostly players that are new, that is why they need to do that. Most of the scam funding in shitcoin spaces circulates around ETH and then around a few smaller players. If you want funding, create it on ETH or as an ETH L2 -- which is exactly what happened in recent history, hundreds of L2s that shouldn't even be a thing because they are useless and pointless. The other group is established players who want to get a good and quick test out in the public, and the network effect of ETH makes that easy. It is easier to find developers that can write something for ETH than some shitcoin listed in position number 300 on Coingecko and using its own unique VM and specifics.
19. Post 66713076 (unedited backup) (by aoluain) (scraped on Mon May 11 17:01:56 CEST 2026) in How to buy Bitcoin anonymously or using KYC?:
If you want to buy bitcoin with no-KYC, my best recommendations would be
Bisq and
Peach. I have never used Peach, but I have heard the best, and it's probably less complicated to understand than Bisq. Peach is centralized, but peer-to-peer with escrow, Bisq is decentralized but more complicated (i.e., uses a DAO for disputes.)
To "erase" the most of your KYC, you can sell the bitcoin back to the centralized exchange you bought it, and re-buy it from one of those two.
I can vouch for Peach Bitcon, I have used it many times for buying and selling mostly through a
digital bank. There are limitations to using Peach to side step the KYC and that is a limit of trades
to the amount of €1000 in 24 hours.
I can also suggest HodlHodl for non KYC buying and selling Bitcoin.
As suggested previously there is also the option of swapping altcoins for Bitcoin via DEX.fo!
20. Post 66711650 (unedited backup) (by sbercoin.one) (scraped on Mon May 11 08:48:25 CEST 2026) in "Blockchain is useful, Bitcoin is not" — How do you respond to this?:
What other institutional product can compete with Bitcoin, an apolitical, counterparty-free, permissionless asset with a fixed supply?
None, if that's what the buyer wants.
But here's the thing: most capital doesn't want that. Pension funds, family offices, retail through ETFs, they already trust custodians. Counterparty risk is a feature for them, not a bug. It means someone to call, someone to sue, someone regulated.
So the question isn't "is Bitcoin unique?" -
yes it is. The question is: how much capital actually values that uniqueness enough to pay a premium for no yield, no legal protection, and 80% drawdowns?
The ideological holders aren't going anywhere. But $2T market cap isn't built on ideology alone - it's built on speculators who came for "number go up". When they get a better deal elsewhere, they leave.
21. Post 66711467 (unedited backup) (by BitBrainers) (scraped on Mon May 11 07:05:07 CEST 2026) in Could stablecoin eventually overshadow Bitcoin usage:
Stablecoins like Tether are the trojan horses for people to get used to concepts like "blockchain", "private keys" and "addresses" so they can feel confident to switch to bitcoin when the US dollar experiences hyperinflation.
The trojan horse framing is the most accurate way to describe it. Stablecoins onboard people to blockchain infrastructure without asking them to accept volatility first. That is not a threat to Bitcoin. It is a funnel. The person who starts using USDT for remittances is one dollar devaluation event away from asking why they are holding digital dollars instead of the real thing. Stablecoins do the education work Bitcoin cannot do alone.

23. Post 66709807 (unedited backup) (by alani123) (scraped on Sun May 10 19:57:20 CEST 2026) in "Blockchain is useful, Bitcoin is not" — How do you respond to this?:
@BlackHatCoiner @satofan44 let's not be too harsh for Ethetrum. The DAO recovery effort was a one time event that was seen as foundational in restoring trust to the project, simply because some developers were acting carelessly and also too many people decided to put money towards that cause. It has never happened since but then again, we saw it happen on a foundational level with Arbitrum who froze their entire chain to reclaim hacked funds just very recently. So now there's the layer twos who are doing the exact same thing.
Yes, in a way, Ethetrum is already open for compromise through use of L2s. But also people could return to the main chain and pay slightly more expensive fees if they want more immutability. For instance, the hackers on the kelp/AAVE compromise were able to actually launder a lot of their bags without issue through the main chain.
My worry though is also valid for bitcoin because big industry heads are too buddy buddy with the government and the authorities lately.
24. Post 66709780 (unedited backup) (by sergiorus) (scraped on Sun May 10 19:49:37 CEST 2026) in Could stablecoin eventually overshadow Bitcoin usage:
When most bitcoiners hear "stablecoin", they make the mistake to have their libertarian-ego triggered and completely overlook the importance of people getting used to stablecoins.
The reality is that people can't just overnight switch from the traditional financial system to Bitcoin. Stablecoins like Tether are the trojan horses for people to get used to concepts like "blockchain", "private keys" and "addresses" so they can feel confident to switch to bitcoin when the US dollar experiences hyperinflation.
Bitcoin does not compete with Tether to have its usage "eventually overshadowed". The utility of bitcoin comes from holding it for a long period, to protect your purchasing power through uncertain times. Tether is more useful as "electronic US dollar cash", not a store of value. Those two can coexist, until the US dollar hyperinflates.
that is correct.
also, the important aspect of stablecoins is that people outside of the US (and they are very popular in the emerging states for a number of reasons) can easily remember the exact exchange rate: i.e. it could be 10 to 1 or 20 to 1 or something like that.
if Bitcoin was the only crossborder currency, people would have to memorise rates like 1047964 to one or something. that's not convenient.
25. Post 66708227 (unedited backup) (by SeriouslyGiveaway) (scraped on Sun May 10 10:58:55 CEST 2026) in Medium of exchange or Strategic reserve for Bitcoin. :
Because the US dollar has a ton more liquidity and it is completely normalized by the world. If instead of fiat, we had a bitcoin standard, you wouldn't notice deflation over short time periods either.
The volatility of bitcoin is completely justified for a total market cap of only $2 trillion. The US dollar has more than triple the entire market cap of bitcoin as a daily trading volume alone, and is backed by nearly every State of the world as every nation is a bagholder of US dollars.
The Declining Purchasing Power of the U.S. DollarThe USA national debt continues its rise with time and that is very big red flag for more effects on purchasing power of US. Dollar.
The USA debt clock. Not only the USA, other nations globally have similar issues with their national fiat currencies from inflation rates to declining purchasing power. Bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto not to fix governments or fiat currencies, just to give people globally a chance of moving away from traditional bank systems, have their own Bitcoin banks, avoid inflation or at least reduce its effects on their wealth by saving their money in bitcoin.

USD looks stable only because you don't pay attention to inflation. Overtime, unlike bitcoin where the volatility is bidirectional, it could go up or down. Dollar is rather 1 dimensional, it go down on the long term.
well I'm aware of Fiat's volatility hence why I said relative.
Bitcoin been measured in Fiat sure doesn't help his case.
Why not both? Bitcoin can be both a medium of exchange and a store of value. Just like Gold. It's just that most people are using it as a store of value.
to be sincere now that you mentioned it
I can't really tell what the question I was asking about was.
Ooh yeah just checked the title I think that's the only thing that understandable
Which would have a faster impact on Bitcoin price
As a strategic reserve or medium of exchange.
Bitcoin as medium of exchange wouldn't render it stable. Deflation has existed in the past when people used gold as money, and it had been fantastic. It is only the monetary downgrade of the 20th century that psyop-ed the public through Keynesian jargon into believing that monetary inflation is good.
Alright let's a paint a scenario
If Bitcoin was the standard we have deflation
A month that really keeps to the store of value concept but with unit of measurement it would seem unchanging
Except when compared to the cost of goods in the market
But currently we have Fiat which many use as a standard of measurement
Thus why Bitcoin looks more volatile Because a Bitcoin can be $70K today and $75K tomorrow
But Fiat would always look like a dollar today is same tomorrow because many don't focus on the real cost.
Most of the currencies in the world are fairly volatile, and most are more volatile than Bitcoin. The USD has even had a quite volatile last 12 months. Therefore, yes you can absolutely use a fairly volatile currency as a medium of exchange.
Yeah my country's currency is an example of such volatility
But it's not noticeable since like I stated before in majority perception the currency nominal value remains unchanged
The Iran currency even imitated how shitcoins work.
My question was supposed to be what would have a bigger impact on price
Medium of exchange or store of value
When Gold was the money the price didn't really go up like we see today since prices were measured in Gold
It showed in the prices of goods
But it started looking like it's quite volatile when it became of store of value.

Downloading is not the bottleneck. Verification is. How much RAM do you have, and do you use HDD drive or SSD? If you're syncing on an HDD, it will take many days, even weeks.
I also want to know if it's possible to download Bitcoin node files from elsewhere and somehow load it up? Like moving the mode files and make it work? Is this possible?
Don't ever do that. Theoretically you can download the blockchain from elsewhere, but it comes with risks with absolutely no upside. Bitcoin Core initial block download taking a long time is the problem that needs to be fixed.
I'm running a 9800X 3D CPU from AMD
With 16gig RAM
And yes 🙂↕️ I am downloading into a HDD
Since this is the only way I have presently.
I can't afford a NVME ssd right now, they are way too overpriced.
Now I understand, thank you.
If you have a large amount of RAM, you can try increasing the Database Cache size in the "
bitcoin.conf" file. You can find this file in the folder where you installed the application.
For example, if you have 16GB of RAM, you can enter "
dbcache=15625". Essentially, the more RAM you allocate, the faster the syncing process will be.
Your internet connection should be fine at that speed (the one you are using), but is your internet connection limited? or, does it have a fair usage policy (FUP)? Because, it could also be the cause.
By the way, I recommend you upgrade to an SSD as soon as you can afford it. Your processor needs one to run optimally.
The issues one may find as hurdles has more to do with the type of laptop device or external HDD one uses, because we can't actually compare the speed of an old laptop/HDD with a new one.
The database cache to be synced requires on hand adjustment by lowering the node to default 450 or around 1000 to save your system resources.
However we can find that the best way to surpass this kind of rising issues, is to copy the blocks and chain state folders from the data directory of a close friend, to an external drive, before pasting to your own Bitcoin data directory and the node is ready to start after it finishes the normal reindex process.

Bump.
Starting from next week, I am renting my avatar and personal text. You can reach me in private with your offer.
Anyone that is going to hire your signature and avatar will definitely see progress in their promotion, and posting in some Bitcointalk forum will make it to attract progress for anyone that will be lucky. I wish you good luck Op

Then why don't you go on a bet with me? If you are certain about your numbers and your knowledge on Bitcoin history, and how "5% of the nodes forced miners in a non-favorable direction for them", and think that history will repeat in September, and "losers like me" will bend over this soft fork, why don't you go on a bet with me? Especially when I'm giving you insane odds, 20:1. We can use escrow, if you don't feel confident that I may not pay you back.
You're all arrogance and endless threads, but when it comes to putting your money where this arrogance is, there's only silence.
He's probably just some scamcoiner trying to fuck over Bitcoin by larping as a Bitcoin user in an effort to make his scamcoin more valuable and doesn't have any bitcoin -- would completely explain how he's not just indifferent to harming bitcoin users he seems to be actively in favor of it.
He's not alone, -- I haven't found a single 110 proponent willing to trade their bitcoin for my 110 coins.

Wouldn't it be better if Wasabi allowed the user to randomly schedule when the coins will join? The user would have to leave the app running for a lot longer, though.
This was a feature in the BTCPay Server coinjoin plugin.
Wasabi used to have a "feature" that would randomly skip rounds, but it didn't inherently solve the problem (while making the UX very annoying).
Basically, does increasing the anonymity score have any effect on the de-anonymising process at all or is your suggestion about users randomly scheduling coinjoins a better solution?
Higher anonymity score target = more remixing.

You need to look into the story of BIP141 and BIP148.
BIP141 was a miner activated fork for Segwit. For over a year it was not going anywhere with 70% of the miners refusing to signal for it.
Some idiots at core had decided that a handful of centralized mining pools should be the ones deciding on the rules of bitcoin.
Than BIP148 came along, it was a user (nodes) activated fork. And with less than 5% of the nodes signalling for it and threatening to invalidate blocks, the miners who had resisted for over a year completely capitulated to the will of the nodes.
Miners had very strong incentives to reject Segwit. Losing 20% of their ASICs efficiency and handing out 50% discount fee coupons at a time when fees were at an all time high, none of that sounded very appealing to miners. Yet they folded to the will of just 5% of nodes.
This time around, miners have a lot less incentives to resist BIP110. It doesn't take much profit away from them, and it doesn't affect their ASIC performance. And I bet you their PR and legal departments will both tell them yo go along with it.
With Segwit, they all bitched like you, they all claimed they would never go for it, and at the last minute, they all folded, and they all acted suddenly as if they were wanting Segwit all along.
History will likely repeat in September. And the only losers will be you, the jpeg loving coretards.
Miners and highly centralized pools are not getting paid to decide the rules to enforce on themselves. That's just an absurd concept. Nodes decide on the rules now, and nodes wil keep on enforcing the rules.
Yeah, miners usually follow where the majority goes in the end. Users and nodes still have a lot of influence. Same with things like bitcoin betting, people just use the network they trust most.

40. Post 66700456 (unedited backup) (by AmoreJaz) (scraped on Fri May 8 01:05:49 CEST 2026) in Getting rich off Bitcoin is impossible for the majority :
Making Profit is the only thing that I can guarantee anyone who is investing in Bitcoin today, but getting rich by buying Bitcoin? I don't think that's completely true.
Bitcoin is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It's a don't-get-poor-slowly scheme. There's still a lot of upside, but for someone who just sits on 5 thousand dollars, it's not going to change his life. What this person must do is look how to increase his cashflow, so he can buy more overtime.
It's really a cashflow problem. How to grow your money once you have it is a solved problem. Just buy bitcoin and forget. The primary problem in the modern world is to have a successfully operating business that generates good cashflow.
This is the most honest framing in this thread. Bitcoin is not a cashflow generator, it is a cashflow preserver. The real problem is income generation, and Bitcoin does not solve that. What it does solve is the slow theft of purchasing power that happens while you figure out the income problem. Those are two completely separate problems and most people confuse them.
A lot thought that once they jump in in this market, they can already gain continuously. I believe that's the notion of most who haven't been in the crypto market. That once you bought some satoshis, you can just sell off and earn from it so fast.

42. Post 66698854 (unedited backup) (by PepeLapiu) (scraped on Thu May 7 17:23:32 CEST 2026) in Will BIP110 confiscate your coin?:
(coretard slop removed)
What's all that bullshit about predicting of BIP110 failing?
You look like a giant prick with that argument.
BIP110 doesn't confiscate anything unless you are dumb enough to throw away your private keys.
But throwing away your private keys will cause you to lose yoyr coin in any other aspect of bitcoin, ever since bitcoin was created.
BIP110 is a response to the stupidity (or corruption?) of core.
BIP110 is a good thing. It needs to susceed in order for bitcoin to survive.
BIP110 has to susceed. But even if I knew for a fact that BIP110 would fail, I still would get behind it.
You can't argue on the merits of BIP110. So instead, you keep making wild predictions and basing your opinion on those wild predictions.
You keep saying BIP110 will fail. So? Even if you were correct, I'd still support BIP110.
Over 40% of the UTXO set is spam dust UTXOs.
Over 85% of Taproot UTXOs are dust spam UTXOs.
Over 50% of current block content is spam.
LibreRelay and Slipstream spamware are being used by the majority of large spam pools.
And meanwhile, core is busy ignoring the problem, rejecting spam filters, and going as far as blowing up existing spam filters. All the while renaming spam as "use cases we have today".
43. Post 66697415 (unedited backup) (by Pmalek) (scraped on Thu May 7 08:44:32 CEST 2026) in An AI Tool to Correct False Claims About Bitcoin:
I have a real complain for the developer, though. It should have a 'bully no-coiner' option that ridiculous the user. I challenge the developer to make it ridicule no-coiners better than I do.

I am guessing the developers didn't have the intention to create enemies and make people who use the bot feel bad for not knowing the things they ask the AI. Hence, there is no option to ridicule them.
Reading the replies, it appears that the chatbot is not the best at technical questions. I don't think it was designed to answer Taproot or BIP details.
Probably not. The average non-bitcoiner has probably never heard of the term 'BIP' let alone specific BIPs from the registry. I don't think it's any different for 'Taproot' and many other features and terms used in Bitcoin.
44. Post 66697305 (unedited backup) (by FinneysTrueVision) (scraped on Thu May 7 07:43:55 CEST 2026) in Wasabi Wallet - Open Source, Noncustodial Coinjoin Software:
One problem with this wallet is that an observer can examine all the coinjoins of a coordinator and de-anonymize people based on timing patterns.
For example, Bob receives his weekly payout on an address, and Alice receives her monthly payment on another address. If across 1000 coinjoins, we notice that Alice and Bob coinjoin at the same coinjoins, there is a high probability that Alice is Bob.
I know about the coin isolation feature, but I'm afraid this does not fully address the problem. It is certainly better if those two addresses coinjoin at different rounds, but it is still trivial to detect how close their rounds are and still arrive at the same conclusion. For example, if across 1000 coinjoins, Alice coinjoins at rounds 401, 405, 750, 753 and 890 while Bob coinjoins at rounds 402, 406, 751, 752 and 889, there is strong correlation between those two identities.
Wouldn't it be better if Wasabi allowed the user to randomly schedule when the coins will join? The user would have to leave the app running for a lot longer, though.
On Kruw’s coordinator there are only about 1 or 2 coinjoins per hour. If two users get paid at the same time because they are with the same manager, and they each open their wallets soon after, within an hour of each other, chances are they are occasionally going to participate in the same or adjacent rounds. It wouldn’t necessarily mean they are the same person. You would have to consider other factors to make that determination.
Regardless, somebody exposing their alt account(s) can only happen if there is user error. It’s not something that is entirely preventable by simply using Wasabi Wallet.
