1. Post 66915572 (unedited backup) (by Free Market Capitalist) (scraped on Tue Jul 7 09:40:55 CEST 2026) in Genius move!Saylor plans to sell Bitcoins to fund operations on buying Bitcoins!:
As for the rest of your text on Saylor and Strategy, I understand that you know this better than me, but please tell me what you think is going to happen with STRC from now on. In my opinion, it serves a real need (stripping away volatility for yield) and Saylor has enough Bitcoin to serve the dividend payments for a very long time.
I don't know what will happen in the future, but what I'm seeing is that every day more and more people are losing faith in Saylor, and that's a problem because, until recently, most investors weren't betting on the horse (Strategy) but on the jockey (Saylor).
I think it’s most likely that we haven’t seen the lows in Bitcoin’s price this year yet, and that’s going to affect STRC’s principal. That “stripping away volatility for yield” thing only works when prices go up or remain sideways at least. Increasing the dividend payment when the asset on which it's based has more unrealized losses isn't going to fly with people who know basic math.
In the longer term, I don’t think it’s going to be very successful. All these high-interest hybrid products always end the same way—with a massive loss in principal value—and I don’t think this one will be an exception. It could work if the price of Bitcoin skyrockets, but given what happened in 2025 and so far in 2026, it looks like the era of big returns on Bitcoin is already over—which is why Saylor changed his initial assumption of a 30% CAGR.
Bankruptcy plays out only if we stay in a prolonged, multi-year crypto winter where Bitcoin's price collapses so deeply that liquidating the treasury cannot cover the company's debt maturities, and traditional credit markets completely refuse to refinance their notes.
I think bankruptcy is unlikely, especially in the short term, but I do think it's quite likely that the company will remain in “zombie” mode, just as it did from the bursting of the dot-com bubble until 2020.

3. Post 66914163 (unedited backup) (by legiteum) (scraped on Mon Jul 6 20:39:19 CEST 2026) in Lightning and Ark are Bitcoin, not an altcoin :):
People do business with trusted partners every day, millions of times a day.
There is literally no trusted partner with the custody of your coins in Lightning. You hold them the entire time, just as when you hold them on-chain with your private keys. The money never leave your wallet. You're reproducing an age-old lie in this forum, because you're too lazy to just make a Google search and understand what a Bitcoin script is.
Of course there is, there's the counterparty, and there are servers running the Lightning code. Again, please read how Lightning works before you say these things.
Code cannot run "nowhere", nor can it run "on Bitcoin" or "on Chain". You don't run programs on the Bitcoin chain.
ChatGPT: "when you make a bitcoin lightning network transaction, where does it run"
Answer:
A Bitcoin Lightning transaction runs off-chain, inside the Lightning Network, not directly on the Bitcoin blockchain.
More specifically:
When you pay someone over Lightning, the payment is routed through a path of Lightning nodes connected by payment channels. Each channel is backed by a Bitcoin on-chain transaction, but the individual Lightning payment itself is just a series of signed balance updates between nodes.[/b]
4. Post 66913926 (unedited backup) (by Free Market Capitalist) (scraped on Mon Jul 6 19:34:13 CEST 2026) in Genius move!Saylor plans to sell Bitcoins to fund operations on buying Bitcoins!:
How many billions have you made, by the way?
For someone at your level, I was expecting something more complex than a personal interpellation of that sort. If you want me to lower myself to your level, let me remind you that Buffett
wouldn't buy all the Bitcoin in the world for $25. Has Saylor, or have you, made more billions than Buffet?
I'm not a Saylor ass-licker,
Excusatio non petita..., you know.
but I am capable of understanding that taking a company that was barely worth $1 billion and sending it to $30 billion (after you've taken it to $120 billion) by converting locked capital into bitcoin is a pretty genius strategy.
No, I'm not advocating for MSTR, no I don't think buying STRC or MSTR is better than stacking sats. I think that doing a 30x when you're worth $1 billion takes some balls, and I also understand that the world is not some libertarian utopia, and there are trillions in capital that simply cannot buy bitcoin, and therefore proxies like Strategy solve a real problem.
The idea that the world isn't some kind of libertarian utopia pretty much contradicts the series of threads you've started over the last few months—which are pretty good, by the way.
But let's get down to specifics. For whatever reason, you seem to think what Saylor is doing is okay. I don't, for the following reasons.
1) He has contradicted himself on practically all of his core tenets, even going so far as to lie brazenly: “Never sell your Bitcoin,” “Those who save in fiat, we call them poor,” “I am creating preferred shares so as not to dilute shareholders any further”,“I'm going to sell bitcoin at a profit if it makes sense to do so in order to obtain liquidity.” On that last point, since I know him, when he said that, I immediately pointed out that as soon as the window opened, he could sell at a loss—which is exactly what he's done.
2) What I’ve put in bold. MSTR made sense back when Bitcoin spot ETFs didn’t exist yet. At that time, Saylor hadn’t gone crazy yet,
supporting shitcoin protocols so they’d buy his STRC. The moment Bitcoin ETFs appeared and his stash became too large—not to mention that he pushed many companies to copy his strategy—he sabotaged his own chances of institutions paying a multiple of mNAV for his MSTR shares.
So, what he came up with to solve that problem was to create the preferreds, none of which worked until STRC. STRC is
80% held by retail investors (the latest I've heard is that it's now 90%).
In other words, Strategy isn't attracting any institutional capital right now, mainly because institutions know how to crunch the numbers, and investing in a company whose CEO constantly contradicts himself and follows strategies like borrowing heavily when prices are at their peak to buy, only to be forced to sell when prices drop, isn't usually a winning strategy.

How many billions have you made, by the way?
Madoff made billions! Ponzi did millions! A ton of scammers did billions!
Should I check your history and see how you criticized people who owned billions for being stupid?
How many times have you done so about Warren Buffett? Did you have his billions to show off?
Roger Ver has more Bitcoins than you, does this mean you're a failure?
Did you score as many girls as Epstein did? If not, you're a failure of a man, and you shouldn't even dare to accuse the man of something!
Remember what I told you last time? Yup, again confirmation! Do something about it!

One interesting statistic is that Bitcoin is already more sustainable from fees alone than any other cryptocurrency that relies on tail emission; the revenue from fees outweighs revenues from tail emission implemented elsewhere.
How did you calculate that?
Bitcoin daily fees averaged under $200K recently, while DOGE produces well over $1000K per day in subsidies.
Worse yet, the value that Bitcoin fees have to protect is 2 orders of magnitude higher than for Doge.
That makes Bitcoin almost 3 orders of magnitude less sustainable.
In this case here is incorrect, I have checked your claim and indeed DOGE does make about $1m per day in subsidies right now. But so what? What kind of comparison is this supposed to be anyway other than a counter-claim to the false claim that BlackHatCoiner has made? The tail emissions like in the example of DOGE are precisely designed to create an illusion that it is any better than premined chains or tokens that are sold as ICOs, IEOs or whatever else they have been sold as. It a shitcoin as far as shitcoins go, with no utility, no security, and no functionality other than trolling. Are we supposed to have more flowing in fees already than its centralized subsidy from a random shitcoin? No. Does security translate $1 for $1 and can it be compared this way? Also no.
An interpretation of this statistic is that the market highly values fixed supply hard money, much rather than uncapped money.
Another interpretation is that the market values the original (and its network effects) much more than clones. If Bitcoin had a tail emission you would have reached the opposite conclusion.
Tail emissions are shit in any case, so let's not pretend otherwise. The only reason why we are here is because fiat works this way, had it not been worked here Bitcoin would have not been created like this and none of the history that followed.
Whoever wants us to return to the fiat model because they can not contain their anxiety in the age of media-induced panic
can fuck off to their own shitcoin. It isn't happening, and no amount of discussions can make it happen.

9. Post 66911473 (unedited backup) (by MRY) (scraped on Mon Jul 6 01:44:49 CEST 2026) in BRICS - problems and forecasts:
De-dollarization sounds great on paper, but nobody actually wants to hold massive reserves of rupees or yuan that they can't easily spend globally. Until they build a proper institutional framework and resolve these deep internal rivalries, BRICS will remain a glorified talking shop.
Unless something ground-breaking happens and Bitcoin suddenly goes back to six digits again.

The liquidity of other countries banknotes cannot make cross-border transactions as liquid as the dollar at the moment. The problems between members are known to slow down the development of these economic alliances. In case Bitcoin reaches six curves or even higher and becomes highly more valuable than it was last time it hit the all time high, it might have a radical impact on the global financial situation. I believe that money will be a very interesting subject to look into in the future.
10. Post 66911400 (unedited backup) (by legiteum) (scraped on Mon Jul 6 01:23:55 CEST 2026) in Myth breaker: Bitcoin UP after lower inflation predictions...:
By all means, go lock your cash in TIPS so the government can feed you manipulated CPI numbers and pay you back in depreciating monopoly money. Definitely protecting yourself from the enemy using the enemy themselves is a smart strategy that works!
That "enemy" you are talking about--the United States--is responsible for most of Bitcoin's market cap. And if you are envisioning a world where there's no United States, there's probably not going to be a working Internet, either.

The best thing to invest in if you seriously think the USA is going to collapse is... bullets.

11. Post 66910860 (unedited backup) (by Berry2d) (scraped on Sun Jul 5 22:58:43 CEST 2026) in How to Develop a Security Mindset Before Buying Your First Bitcoin. :
"Be your own bank" sounds awesome until you realize it means you're also your own security guard. I always tell newcomers to do a test run first. Wipe a fresh wallet and restore it with the seed phrase just to prove they actually backed it up right, or make a few transactions on testnet to play with it.
Better to miss a quick pump while learning basic opsec than to lose your whole stack to a silly mistake.
Before getting involved in any bitcoin investment related activities one must first practice a right security procedure that can help safeguard his asset incase of necessity if need be because most lost accounts happeneds as a result of once failure to learn the right way to safeguard our assets when necessary.
The procedure of wiping and re-accessing the site before investment is a very good method to adapt to as it will enable one know if his seed phase is properly entered or not. Most lost there's including me, i lost my first account because I misplaced that account seed phase on the creation process which I have learnt the lesson and won't be happy if that happens to someone else.
12. Post 66909489 (unedited backup) (by MarGomez) (scraped on Sun Jul 5 15:38:38 CEST 2026) in [AMA] I am a proponent of the BIP-110 (a.k.a RDTS) - ask me anything:
Hi guys! First post here! In fact I joined specifically because I wanted to post in this thread.
This is just another bitcoin knot spam
Why do BIP-110 proponents need so many topics on bitcointalk, about the same thing?
There is a soft fork happening in a month. Yet the Bitcoin original forum makes no mention of it on it's first two pages. Nothing at all, ziltch, nada, zero!
And the amazing thing about it all is that you people think that's already too much, boring, spam, annoyance.
This is a forum, you pick the subjects that interest you, and you get to ignore those subjects that don't interest you. I in fact had to go to the 3rd page to find the thread that interests me. You know what I did not do with all the threads I have no interest in?
- I did not insult them and tell them I am annoyed with them.
- I did not bother to even click those threads, most less post on them.
You two should look into doing the same.
The following post, for some reason, earned the most merit on this thread:
I am an opponent of the Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 110 (BIP-110 a.k.a. RDTS - Reduced Data Temporary Soft-fork, bip110.org) scheduled for activation in August 2026.
I run a Bitcoin node, stack sats, bully no-coiners, and my healthy lifestyle is sustained entirely by caffeine, 4L of water and beef. I am as straight male as it gets, and highly aware that this is a Bitcointalk post and not a Tinder bio.
I am interested in Bitcoin's security, economics, and protecting its monetary properties from moronic ideas like BIP-110.
You have said absolutely nothing productive. Simply throwing insults at BIP110 and calling it moronic, that is not constructive in any way. On the level of saying "My daddy can beat up your daddy"
How many of your non-110 coins do you want to trade me for my 110 coins? I'm willing to consider a variety of terms.
I have no use for a 110-crippled Bitcoin, and it sounds like you have no use for a 110-free non-authoritarian Bitcoin-- so we should obviously trade to the mutual satisfaction of our desires. There is no need for any acrimony or dispute, it seems we want different things and that's fine.
Because I have absolutely no intention of ever using 110 coins except to get rid of them we should be ideal trading partners.
This is very unproductive. You all seem busy throwing around allegations, predictions, insults, and absolutely nothing to say about BIP110's merits.
13. Post 66908852 (unedited backup) (by aoluain) (scraped on Sun Jul 5 10:59:38 CEST 2026) in "Governments will ban Bitcoin" and other bedtime stories:
A Bitcoin ban doesn't ban Bitcoin. It bans YOU from Bitcoin.
The compliant you. The KYC-ed you. The guy who bought $500 on an app with his passport stapled to it.
The oligarch keeps his keys. The minister keeps his. The cartel keeps theirs.
A ban is a tax on the honest.
Great piece.
Governments might ban Bitcoin but thats for the masses, the top echelons of society
will still get to have Bitcoin and all the advantages which go along with that.
14. Post 66908563 (unedited backup) (by OsaiEmma) (scraped on Sun Jul 5 08:20:55 CEST 2026) in "Governments will ban Bitcoin" and other bedtime stories:
Here's the part nobody says out loud.
A Bitcoin ban doesn't ban Bitcoin. It bans YOU from Bitcoin.
I really love this part. And it is so true when you look at it critically. They can't really ban Bitcoin, they tried and saw it wasn't feasible so they turned too regulations and control.
They can do all they want, Bitcoin is here to stay. Just as you've said, while one bans, the other buys. Nice one OP.

16. Post 66906143 (unedited backup) (by Wind_FURY) (scraped on Sat Jul 4 16:06:19 CEST 2026) in Can Bitcoin survive on fees alone after block subsidy dies? :
Is the community starting to open up to the debate that removing the supply cap might be a good long-term path for the Economic Sustainability of securing the Bitcoin blockchain? Or is it still "blasphemy"?
This is probably the worst idea.
Practically speaking there is no way to do this without a hard fork. This means that two chains will run in parallel. It is a very bad idea, because of the economic consequences. Nobody wants a bitcoin with no fixed supply, this is pretty much one of the best selling points of hard money. Everyone will stick with the one which is fixed, and therefore most hashrate will naturally stay on the fixed supply one.
Practically speaking, you're right. It will be very hard path. BUT let me ask again, AND merely speaking from a context of discussing ideas - Is removing the supply cap something that the people in the community are starting to open up their discussions into, OR is it still an idea that's "blasphemy"?
I'm genuinely and objectively asking.

18. Post 66905701 (unedited backup) (by Oasisman) (scraped on Sat Jul 4 13:11:07 CEST 2026) in "Governments will ban Bitcoin" and other bedtime stories:
India threatened a ban for five straight years. Then taxed it at 30%.
You don't tax what you're about to kill.
You tax what you've decided to keep.
This tax part is something I don't understand. They don't support it, they restrict it, yet they tax it. They claim the taxing is to discourage it, but they also tax other things they encourage, so how is this different? If they are against something, then they shouldn't want the revenue that comes from it.
Well, it's pretty simple. The government tax everything that generates income. Whether it is within their control or not. There are those they can't control, and they can shut it down before even thinking about taxing it. However, Bitcoin is way different than those, as they can't control it nor completely shut it down. Yes, they can ban it, but there are a lot of ways to bypass it. So, they were thinking, it's better to just tax , than ban it and get nothing.
Most of the government are very intelligent in terms of money, lol.
Bitcoin has made people realize that the governments can only control what is within their control.
The government doesn't control Bitcoin; they will never be able to, but they can control how people use it, and they are doing that. I feel like, within the next decade, it would be extremely difficult to use Bitcoin without a central entity involved.
[/quote]
It's not really hard, but it will become expensive for both transaction and taxation. That's something to expect.

20. Post 66905448 (unedited backup) (by Alpha Marine) (scraped on Sat Jul 4 11:10:43 CEST 2026) in "Governments will ban Bitcoin" and other bedtime stories:
India threatened a ban for five straight years. Then taxed it at 30%.
You don't tax what you're about to kill.
You tax what you've decided to keep.
This tax part is something I don't understand. They don't support it, they restrict it, yet they tax it. They claim the taxing is to discourage it, but they also tax other things they encourage, so how is this different? If they are against something, then they shouldn't want the revenue that comes from it.
I have a theory that some governments try to ban Bitcoin to affect how some people view its legitimacy.
Aside from the fact that they want control and all, a theory I have is that governments don't want Bitcoin to be a widely used currency because it will make things difficult for them. When the majority of people start using Bitcoin, the bank deposits reduce, and this can affect how the bank gives out loans.
The government doesn't want self-custody.
Bitcoin has made people realize that the governments can only control what is within their control.
The government doesn't control Bitcoin; they will never be able to, but they can control how people use it, and they are doing that. I feel like, within the next decade, it would be extremely difficult to use Bitcoin without a central entity involved.

A seed phrase crosses every border on earth inside a skull.
No scanner sees it. No sanction freezes it. No missile hits it. No government confiscates it.
The only thing that can destroy is amnesia.

The chance that you would get hit by a case of amnesia during a time where you are transporting a seed phrase to another location is so low that it can be completely ignored. The numbers on stuff like that is clear, we need to be careful when we bring these things up even if you are correct because some people start creating threads how we should worry about solar flares and similar.

If one government in one country bans it, the rest of the world won't so that ban will affect absolutely nothing.
Not "absolutely nothing" imo. Bitcoin isn't going to be banned worldwide, of course, but peoples in a banned country can still have serious problems. Fiat ramps get worsen, banks refuse payments, exchanges shut, and regular users face issues when buying and selling.
So yes, while Bitcoin itself continues to function, users access and liquidity may be extremely restricted there. Users can still use VPNs and P2P, but it's not the same as before. The ban is a very real one for users in that country. Not to mention the possibility of being arrested, gossiped by neighbours, and what not...
You are correct that the citizens of such countries would be affected if Bitcoin is banned. But I guess "absolutely nothing" in this context means that it wouldn't have so much effect on the global use of Bitcoin. China's negative stance on Bitcoin has not stopped the adoption and growth of the industry. People in affected countries also have the option of relocating to a friendly country if they have the means.
A sitting president made $635m in royalties from a business that impoverished most of those who invested. If Trump were a member of this forum, many investors of his coin would have opened threads on the scam accusation board.
Just because you lost money on something that does not make that something a scam, so those would be false scam accusations. If you buy a memecoin you accept all the risk that comes with that, nobody can force you to buy it and nobody made false promises that it wasn't a memecoin so there was no scam.
Not "absolutely nothing" imo. Bitcoin isn't going to be banned worldwide, of course, but peoples in a banned country can still have serious problems. Fiat ramps get worsen, banks refuse payments, exchanges shut, and regular users face issues when buying and selling.

People forget that they are actually in a constant struggle and war against their own governments, and to think that some believe the all governments protect their own people! In the extreme cases of attempts at controlling its citizens, many countries have implemented different worldwide taxation laws or even exit taxes for citizenship and changes like that so even if you do not like the rules that are presented to you, they want to punish you for choosing to go somewhere else! We live in quiet crazy times and most people are distracted by things that are not so important.

If you implicitly trust Bitcoin nodes, you don't understand how Bitcoin works. It's a trustless network. Google it.
So is wrong if I trust my own nodes? If you don't know anybody can run a full node.
I too think we can drastically change the Bitcoin codebase--such as adding LN to it--and still call it "Bitcoin".
It would be anything but Bitcoin.
It isn't Bitcoin because people call it Bitcoin but what it represents.
What ever you would have is a downgraded copy that can never be Bitcoin.
When you turn a chair to a table
You can't call it a chair because that was what it was before.
if you changed the Bitcoin core to be fast enough to handle all of the world's transactions, wouldn't it go UP in value? Wouldn't the price of Bitcoin moon? Wouldn't this be better for Bitcoin's long-term survival?
I can't even start listing the trade offs and go from this angle
Alana should have the fastest network but it's barely some fraction of Bitcoin.
on how Bitcoin can benefit society--and benefit current BTC holders with an asset that appreciates.
It already does that
And also adds Self custody as a huge bonus.
I would really love to see you point a coin that has risen like Bitcoin.

Is the community starting to open up to the debate that removing the supply cap might be a good long-term path for the Economic Sustainability of securing the Bitcoin blockchain? Or is it still "blasphemy"?
🤔
Before 2020, asking OP's question would make people react that OP is stupid for asking because "OF COURSE miners will survive on fees alone" Currently, people can't ignore the fact that there's a possibility that it could get "complicated".
Fuck off with the shitcoin centralizing inflation scam. It is better to accept a severe reduction in security than to remove the supply cap or even worse change to POS.
Every single dilutive shitcoin is underperforming Bitcoin since they have reached some significant numbers in market cap (in other cases the comparison is not appropriate since going from $1M market cap to $100m is trivial with low liquidity pumps and generates an easy 100x). Many have actually even removed their supply caps in recent years and turned on to the FED model. There are only two options for that:
- 1. Infinite inflation, basically fiat 2.0.
- 2. Limited inflation with a lot of burning through fees, but extreme centralization is needed as you need to enable all sorts of scamcoin behaviors such as smart contract.
So this option would get us either fiat 2.0 or centralization 2.0, a chain split and a huge controversy. Only negatives and no benefits aside from an imaginary preservation of security that 99.9% of users can't even qualitatively quantify. Great idea, why aren't we doing it?

Where does the script run?
Have a small talk with an LLM, to save us both some time. A Bitcoin script runs on Bitcoin, a lightning channel is a Bitcoin script, and Lightning is lightning channels that you open and close unilaterally with anyone in the world. Try feeding that to the AI, and have it lecture me about Bitcoin. Maybe I've misunderstood how Bitcoin works my entire life, there's a chance there.
It was a rhetorical question, I understand very well how Lightning--and the Lightning Network--works.
But sure, I'm lazy and don't feel like explaining it to you, so here's ChatGPT's answer:
"A Bitcoin Lightning transaction runs off-chain, inside the Lightning Network, not directly on the Bitcoin blockchain.
More specifically:
When you pay someone over Lightning, the payment is routed through a path of Lightning nodes connected by payment channels. Each channel is backed by a Bitcoin on-chain transaction, but the individual Lightning payment itself is just a series of signed balance updates between nodes."
***
You see, with computers, code needs to run
somewhere, not on some vague abstraction called, "Bitcoin".
A Lightning node is either a private node you agree to use with the person you are trading with (not decentralized, not trustless, NOT BITCOIN), or its a node on the Lightning Network that might already have the pairing you want, the LN being, you guessed it, not decentralized, not trustless, NOT BITCOIN.
Bitcoin is a trustless network: any given node could be running malign software and the network will take care of that automatically. Further, the Bitcoin network is resistant to 51% attacks because of the proof-of-work model. That's what makes Bitcoin, Bitcoin.
Lightning nodes are not trustless because they can't be: because they don't have PoW, they are subject to 51% attacks. Because of that, they are
trusted nodes--again, just like CoinBase is.
If you want to trust a centralized network like Lightning, I won't stop you. Chances are it's perfectly fine to use, just like CoinBase, Robinhood, ETFs, PoS cryptos like Ether, and fast stablecoins are all perfectly fine for the most part.
But the Bitcoin religious hardcores say that all of those things I mentioned above are Evil, but somehow LN is not (because it's the same thing as Bitcoin, they say). It's nonsense.
If you keep this going this thread is going to be a very long on because trust me some people on here are ready to make you realize that they are right and you are wrong.
Me looking at both sides I believe you are both right, some people will always believe that Lightening Bitcoin is Bitcoin and there are some like you that doesn't believe the same.
Why should I keep trying to make people realise that I am right? Safe yourself the energy and let everyone believe in what they want, that Bitcoin Lightening though, I am wondering why the majority of merchants and online stores aren't accepting it.
The last time I purchased some things using Bitcoin, all options I get has no LN available, Bitcoin was first and USDT was the second while ETH followed, no one really cares much about LN.

You don't tax what you're about to kill.
You tax what you've decided to keep.
But for taxation, a legislative basis needs to be prepared, and that is why these frightening tales about the ban were told.
Now do the thought experiment nobody wants to do in public.
Where does a minister in a war zone keep his kickbacks?
Cash?
Cash sits in safes. Safes sit in buildings. Buildings meet missiles.
A bank account? Frozen the day someone in Brussels adds his name to a PDF.
Real estate?
There's a registry. His name is in it. Journalists read registries for a living.
Gold?
Walk with 40 kg of gold through a checkpoint. I want to check something.
Maybe that's enough, huh? Bitcoin is already being accused of every mortal sin, and yet you continue to demonize it.

A seed phrase crosses every border on earth inside a skull.

The only thing that can destroy is amnesia.

The ministers, the generals, the presidential nephews of every sanctioned, collapsing state on this planet figured that out years ago.
You think they're going to ban their own exit?
The laws "work" differently for them and it is not difficult for them to prohibit things for the general public.
A Bitcoin ban doesn't ban Bitcoin. It bans YOU from Bitcoin.
For it is impossible to prohibit something over which they have no control or power.

If one government in one country bans it, the rest of the world won't so that ban will affect absolutely nothing. This is why it cannot be banned not because they want to use it themselves.
In fact I don't think they do. They see things differently, they want to have that full control. This is why they still go with things like gold and real estate. In your "war zone" example, just wait until things fall apart more in places like Ukraine and you'll see where they run off to and where their "real estates" are located. Hint it is not nearby to be hit by a missile.
Iran licenses Bitcoin mining to sell energy the banks won't touch.
Correction: Iran regulated mining to be able to manage their electricity consumption (we are talking about dirt cheap $0.001/KWH here) and try to stabilize the network.
And the United States, the empire itself, approved the ETFs, let BlackRock stack more coins for its clients than any government on earth holds, put pension money in it and watched the sitting President launch a coin while his family runs a mining company.
That is not a government preparing a ban.
Here is another scarier way of looking at it: they don't ban it if it benefits them (the scam token pedophile POTUS created and sold) and they will not hesitate to ban it if it also benefits them.
Just think about it... what if they wanted to push something they fully controlled (eg. PedoCoin!) and saw the decentralized Bitcoin in their way? And then suddenly got the moronic idea that banning bitcoin would benefit their shitcoin?
They'll bring down the ban-hammer so quickly we won't be able to start a topic about it here

An OG has probably been hearing this since Bitcoin costed less than your lunch.
Any day now, the ban is coming.
I think that only in the early days was such an argument reasonable and maybe if they had understood the danger that the Bitcoin alternative poses to the system on time we would have seen an alternative path with attempts to fully ban it when it was more vulnerable. In this way we can maybe even see that the dismissive statements about Bitcoin in the early days from the media and many famous individuals kept the system in the dark about it. Not that they didn't know about it, but they completely underestimated it and also dismissed it. This maybe helped us avoid some more direct actions against Bitcoin in the early days.
Cash?
Cash sits in safes. Safes sit in buildings. Buildings meet missiles.
Cash is horrible for large value, because the maximum denomination bills have been around for a long time and their value has been decreasing rapidly. A $100 bill in the year 2000 is something completely different compared to a dollar bill in the year 2026, this can also be a way how they are sabotaging cash as an alternative.
A Bitcoin ban doesn't ban Bitcoin. It bans YOU from Bitcoin.
Amazing description, I wish that more people understood this.

The lightning channel.
The lightning channel is a Bitcoin script. It is a script that the Bitcoin protocol understands. So the Bitcoin protocol has my funds, and I have custody over them.
Where does the script run?
34. Post 66900458 (unedited backup) (by Lexandroove) (scraped on Thu Jul 2 21:53:19 CEST 2026) in "Governments will ban Bitcoin" and other bedtime stories:
An OG has probably been hearing this since Bitcoin costed less than your lunch.
Any day now, the ban is coming.
Let me tell you why it never comes.
China banned Bitcoin. In 2013. Again in 2017. Again in 2021. The full ban. Mining, trading, everything.
Today China is still one of the largest mining countries on earth. Underground.
Turns out you can ban an exchange. You can't ban a number. Who would have thought?
Nigeria cut crypto off from its banks in 2021.
P2P volume exploded. Nigeria became one of the highest-adoption countries.
India threatened a ban for five straight years. Then taxed it at 30%.
You don't tax what you're about to kill.
You tax what you've decided to keep.
A seed phrase crosses every border on earth inside a skull.
No scanner sees it. No sanction freezes it. No missile hits it. No government confiscates it.
The ministers, the generals, the presidential nephews of every sanctioned, collapsing state on this planet figured that out years ago.
You think they're going to ban their own exit?
Iran licenses Bitcoin mining to sell energy the banks won't touch.
Russia legalized mining in 2024 and wrote crypto into its cross-border trade law.
Bhutan mines it with state hydropower.
And the United States, the empire itself, approved the ETFs, let BlackRock stack more coins for its clients than any government on earth holds, put pension money in it and watched the sitting President launch a coin while his family runs a mining company.
That is not a government preparing a ban.
That is a government building a position.
Here's the part nobody says out loud.
A Bitcoin ban doesn't ban Bitcoin. It bans YOU from Bitcoin.
The compliant you. The KYC-ed you. The guy who bought $500 on an app with his passport stapled to it.
The oligarch keeps his keys. The minister keeps his. The cartel keeps theirs.
A ban is a tax on the honest.
And game theory finishes the argument.
If Washington bans it, Dubai prices it.
A country that bans Bitcoin donates its capital to the country that doesn't.
Every finance minister on earth can do that math.
So no. There is no ban coming and the price is not dropping because of government coming after you.
The asset WILL go up, because it's the smartest invention of the century.
The question is if slaves get to enjoy the gains.
Bitcoin has become a major pillar of digital finance, and we are already seeing a mainstream transition towards it. Its infrastructure has become too established for a ban of some sort to hold it at bay, especially with the emergence of several avenues for generating wealth from its ecosystem. When prices dip, noise becomes more pronounced, but one thing is certain: noise fizzles out over time

Exactly. Thank you. L2s don't do that.
OK, so who else apart from me has custody to my lightning channel funds?
The lightning channel.

Το "Western values will be tested to the breaking point" τι φάση;Παραδέχομαι «συνομωσιολόγους» σαν κι εσένα γιατί συνειδητοποιήσατε πώς λειτουργεί ο κόσμος πολύ πιο πριν.

Sure, and the Bitcoin ETFs are Bitcoin in the sense that they hold your Bitcoin for you.
Yes, the thing is, Bitcoin solves the problem of having to trust third party custodians by giving you the ability to self-custody it.
Exactly. Thank you.
L2s don't do that. They take custody of your Bitcoin (even if only for a short time, it doesn't matter).
So you can't call them, "Bitcoin" anymore than you can call your Robinhood account's BTC balance, "Bitcoin" (which, to be clear, most people actually
do call their Robinhood balance "Bitcoin", but that's another discussion).
It's not the best place to advertise XXXXXXXX, just a tip.
Thanks for the plug (

), but it's not a viable place to advertise... anything. The audience here is about 45 people, almost all of whom probably aren't going to try anything new You would be better off yelling your ad out your window.

38. Post 66900224 (unedited backup) (by doomloop) (scraped on Thu Jul 2 20:51:07 CEST 2026) in Strategies may sell up to $1.25 billion of bitcoin:
I would have stayed in the software market. MSTR could well have jumped on the AI bandwagon and their stock might be much higher without the danger of impending doom and prison sentences.
MicroStrategy was a company with valuation barely $1-2 billion, for over two decades. After simply deploying this aggressive Bitcoin strategy, they reached 100x what they were valuated for so many years. What did they do? They simply bought bitcoin.
The media brainwashes people to blame Saylor for "messing up" now that he's in a bear market. Everyone blames him for falling from $120 billion to $30 billion, but nobody talks how he managed to reach from $1 to $30 billion by simply stacking bitcoin.
That is the reality, and on top of that, they are already above the situation they faced and now looking to buy even more. They do not realize that this dudes strategy was the reason why this company grew to this size like you said.
I think the reality is that we should be looking at something that is wildly successful attempt at making a company worth more. And he is the owner, so he has the money and the valuation, dude basically made himself rich double, by both being a bitcoin owner AND getting a higher value company.
39. Post 66900040 (unedited backup) (by legiteum) (scraped on Thu Jul 2 19:59:08 CEST 2026) in Lightning and Ark are Bitcoin, not an altcoin :):
Lightning and Ark are Bitcoin in the sense that they move the currency and you hold custody each time, as in the Bitcoin protocol.
Sure, and the Bitcoin ETFs are Bitcoin in the sense that they hold your Bitcoin for you. CoinBase is Bitcoin in that it holds you Bitcoin for you, etc. etc. Most people would consider clicking on the "Bitcoin" button on their Robinhood app, "owning Bitcoin" and "using Bitcoin". But some people think differently about Bitcoin, right?
Many people here are "hardcores" and call themselves (for instance) "decentralization maximalists", and because of
that, they say, they love Bitcoin. It's in
that context that there's a bait-and-switch that occurs: suddenly they tack on something that is NOT like Bitcoin in their context, and yet they still pretend it's still the Bitcoin they always talk about.
Of course, if you give up being a "decentralization maximalist" (religiously devoted to Bitcoin), then you can get "tempted" by many other very sexy products on the market that are faster, cheaper, easier to use, and can truly scale to handle the whole world.

42. Post 66896406 (unedited backup) (by legiteum) (scraped on Wed Jul 1 19:06:55 CEST 2026) in Strategies may sell up to $1.25 billion of bitcoin:
If BTC dropped in price by another 20%--which very well might happen--then he'll be bankrupt with ZERO and probably facing serious charges.
I suspect that he is currently looking at his previous life as a very rich owner of a a perfectly normal small software company and wishing that he was back to that.

47. Post 66891807 (unedited backup) (by Rikafip) (scraped on Tue Jun 30 11:54:13 CEST 2026) in Brief monthly overview of the local board activity:
As promised to emf ellow local board member few hours ago, here is the brief overview of local boards for May 2026. All charts and table are made using data from @DdmrDdmr
Merit Dashboard and Bitlist.
Communities marked with * (Pakistan, Bengali) don't have their own local boards yet, but are part of this overview nevertheless.
Post activity per local board during May 2026During May, 13781 posts were made across local boards which is an increase compared to April's numbers (13283). This increase has been spread among the most active boards, and one that had biggest increase was Nigerian that is again back at over 4k posts. Summer is coming, so let's see how situation develops and whether that affects activity.
Active members per local board during May 20261322 members wrote at least 1 post in one of the local boards during May, that makes an increase compared to month before, during which 1276 members were active. Nigerian board remained at the top, and thanks mainly to them we have this increase. Unfortunately, French continues its descent towards the bottom.
