I believe AI agents integrated on Bitcoin wallets is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard for a while, unless they're just testing some next-level development concept that I can't wrap my head around right now.
Where do I begin? That this is a privacy and security nightmare? Actually that is all. Poor privacy and false sense of security. Pretty terrifying to play like that with your savings.
Every AI agent integration that actually care about privacy and security generate different wallet for this exact reason, can't be sure it's safe unless it don't touch our savings completely and yeah it feels dumb sometime. Never heard anybody saying they should integrate AI agent to their bank accounts, but we have so many people saying we should integrate AI agent to our bitcoin address, especially coming from startup founders who are seeking for funding rounds. It feels like they think of AI as miracle that can solve it all.

Hey man, I think you have come a cross many posts on that forum that talks about Bitcoin running on a mathematical model to function greatlyk without the need to be tempered by any external governmental body. I hope you have any post like this, similar to blackhatcoiner talking about similar things like crypto is mathematical.
So it's harder to manipulat what is built on maths, it doesn't obey anyone's final security but only listen to the operational models that was saved, integrated.

Everyone is just trying to survive. One shouldn’t reproach them for using "tools" that happen to harm others; they don’t do it out of malice, but simply to survive.
How easy it is to use "survival" (doing it for the sake of one's family, one's children, and their future) as a cover for carrying out "dirty" deeds.
In today's world, anyone who gains significant influence seems, sooner or later, to receive "an offer they can't refuse" from a briefcase man: a "partnership" in which you say and do X, Y and Z, and in return the group invests its cold, hard cash in you.
There is also another way: a service rendered to you now (some form of help) for which you will have to "pay" later and at a higher cost.
Money is an instrument of power over you, for it makes it possible to "buy" your "freedom" (to speak and to act).
It's important to remind ourselves that Bitcoin is the only hope of saving the world from this banking creature that has spread its tentacles into every area of our lives.
It seems to me that bitcoin is not capable of changing the established order in this world - no matter how much we might wish it otherwise.
Because Bitcoin is actionable knowledge. Everyone holding Bitcoin since the last few years has protected themselves from the inflation of the most important goods for their lives, such as meat, eggs, coffee, rent.
Suppose bitcoin was sold at a profit. As for those who continue to hold, what benefit did they gain from purchasing "

Do not let this paralyze you.

It's plausible, because the US empire is slowly collapsing, and the foreign countries need another currency to make trades in, as the US dollar becomes the equivalent of toilet paper in total supply.
The realistic risk isn't the US attacking Bitcoin. It's the US attacking everything around it: exchanges, KYC on-ramps, stablecoin issuers. They already do that, no oil conspiracy needed.
Hi BHC, it’s not a conspiracy idea use Bitcoin as a medium of exchange for oil.
As I wrote in my first post, Iran used Bitcoin to collect a one dollar tariff on every barrel passing through the Hormuz, paid in Bitcoin.
My point was to discuss the potential risks involved if Bitcoin were to become an alternative currency for trading oil.
Ironically, anyone who opposes dollarization gets swept aside one way or another.
As you can see, some people call me a conspiracy theorist (which I absolutely am not), while others engage in a constructive discussion.
I agree with you that they could attack everything related to Bitcoin; in fact, I raised the possibility that what we are seeing right now with HD wallets might not be solely the work of North Koreans, the surface of attacks is more easily.

Good one OP, this is another good reason why Satoshi Nakamoto went into hiding, he is brilliant, he knew that if he exposed who he or they really are the briefcase man will come, giving him an offer he will never refuse.
I hate this centralised world with passion, as for people who still can't figure out the potential of Bitcoin, this is one of them that people don't talk about very often.
You can't change the world in peace, you can't bring innovation that will help the world in peace, especially if you are from Africa, you will be killed for finding a solution to a bigger problem in the world.

Russians can no longer use third-party market place to trade bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
Russians can not longer trade P2P also by sending it from noncustodial wallet to noncustodial wallet.
Only Russia approved exchanges and brokers can be used.

Does that mean, they wouldn’t even have P2P services on the exchange and all trades would either be done directly with the approved exchanges or brokers?
If that be the case, it would be a stand against what Bitcoin was meant to be and a huge deviation from its purpose as contained in Bitcoin’s white paper, being a currency for p2p transactions.
Making P2P illegal is as effective as making "P2P drug dealing illegal". Chances are the person who wants drugs, and wants them peer-to-peer, wouldn't have his mind changed because of a law.
True, as nobody would really give a thing about it but, it would only give government legal grounds to seizures, possessions and prosecution of offenders when found, that’s just the grounds is see for this.

It's a nice thought experiment. How a poor person looks at the ground beef and how a billionaire looks at it. For one, it might be one entire day of work, while for the other just a few seconds.
Funny enough there are people that walks into a supermarket and pick stuffs without even looking at their price tags. Checking at the price of things before buying them is practically a poor man doings, you won't see a wealthy man in that settings. If one will need to be checking at the prices to see how much they are worth, it means you will even have to do the calculation of things you've bought before you get to the cashier.
There's really no much difference in a price tag showing numbers of hours just as OP illustrated because no matter how many hours it is, people earn differently per hour which means that it can take someone 200 hours to make $2,000 while it can take the next person 50 hours to make $2000. What it means is that the person who made that money in 50 hours may not really care about the price tag in hours.

Does it actively help in undertaking tasks like understanding bitcoin core, reviewing BIPs, debugging or general security research? Or is it still more useful in the aspect of explanation and exploration rather than serious development work?
To bring the thread back to the original question: the answer is "both", but the line between where it helps and where it hurts is fairly sharp, and it maps onto how expensive it is to verify the output.
Where it is genuinely useful- Navigating Core. Tracing a call path through net_processing, validation and the script interpreter, or asking "where is this flag enforced and under which deployment?", is much faster than grepping cold. The answer is cheap to verify because you can open the file and check.
- Reading BIPs against the reference implementation. Asking it to map each section of a BIP to the code and test vectors that implement it is a good way to spot gaps in your own understanding, and in the spec.
- Tests and tooling. Functional tests, fuzz harness skeletons, regtest/signet scripts and one-off RPC analysis scripts (like BlackHatCoiner's examples). Low risk, easy to check, real time saved.
- Review assistance, not review. Generating a checklist of edge cases for a PR, or a second pass looking for off-by-one / bounds issues, which matches pooya87's experience.
Where caution is warranted- Consensus-critical logic. Sighash construction, script number encoding, reorg handling and similar areas are exactly where a model can sound confident and be subtly wrong. A plausible but wrong explanation there is worse than none.
- Security findings. As Danish Ali pointed out with the Kimi K3 numbers, raw output is triage, not results. The false-positive rate means every finding needs a human who could have found it themselves.
- Large, open-ended scope. Agreed with gwestcot and alegotardo: small, well-bounded tasks with tests as the acceptance criteria work; "build the whole thing" drifts.
A rule of thumb that works well: treat every output as a PR from an unknown contributor. If verifying it would cost more than writing it yourself, don't use it for that task.
On gmaxwell's concernsThey are valid and in my view separable from the "is it useful" question:
- Environment: run any agent in a disposable VM or container with no wallets, no keys and regtest/signet only. As PrimeNumber7 noted, manual-approval mode means nothing executes or gets read without you seeing it first.
- Privacy: for public code like Core, the code itself isn't the sensitive part; your prompts, environment and anything else on the machine are. For private code, an open-weight model on your own hardware (or a zero-data-retention agreement, for organizations) is the sensible default.
- Dependency: this is the strongest point. Using it to explain and then verifying against the source builds skill; using it to produce code you don't fully understand erodes it. On a codebase where, as NotATether said, the code is money, only the first is acceptable.

The problem is that the majority of the world has been tricked into placing junk ultra-processed sugar as a big part of their diet, whose supply is much less reactive to inflation. For example, for the ranch to produce the same beef, expenses increase way more than in comparison with the Cheetos factory to produce the same supply of garbage. This tricks people into thinking that inflation is mild, because the basket of goods contains mostly garbage like sugar and hydrocarbons.
The people living on a human diet that consists of food that does not slowly kill them experience much more inflation than the sugar addicts.
Um, beef slowly kills you. Ever heard of cholesterol?
But anyhow, you have retreated to stating that there's only higher inflation for food you consider more healthy. Good progress, but food itself is only a small portion of the expense picture for average Americans. There are other things like housing, energy, transportation and health care to consider. All of those things have gone up on a USD basis in the last 20 years, and if you average them all it comes to... the numbers that the US government puts out for our inflation rate.
The US inflation rate is not "fake news", nor could it be since markets rely on this data. Trump would absolutely love to fake this number the other way and make it smaller, but he knows he can't because markets will know it's fake and it will make things much worse for him, since the lack of confidence in the numbers will screw up the markets for stocks (and Bitcoin too for that matter).
And since the inflation rate is not fake news, then:
1. The price of Bitcoin does not correlate, in any way, with US inflation, and is entirely unrelated to it.
2. The "tax" levied at rich people when they pay capital gains tax on assets that merely keep up with inflation is a very modest one--especially compared to gains they make on their investments themselves. US stock portfolios that have gone up 10% in the last three years because of USD inflation have often gone up 100% because of the stock market. People who timed the Bitcoin market perfectly and make 10x gains in the last five years will see perhaps 1% of their gains being caused by inflation and 99% of their gains caused by their lucky timing of the market.
In the US and elsewhere we tax people if they successfully make money from their investments. We don't tax people who make zero on a USD basis. The US ADAPT act is simply codifying that for instruments that by definition will not change on a USD basis, saving everybody lots of paperwork. It is not a conspiracy against Bitcoin, or a conspiracy by the Illuminati to control our minds.

If you're trading P2P, isn't it already given that you want to avoid taxes? Otherwise why trading P2P? Just stick with a Binance account and use the most liquid order book, you'll trade the bitcoin at the best rates.
Making P2P illegal is as effective as making "P2P drug dealing illegal". Chances are the person who wants drugs, and wants them peer-to-peer, wouldn't have his mind changed because of a law.
I don't know how a lot of people get away with this stuff, I agree with you with using centralized exchanges like Binance rates are better for users and the local law. And like you said, it's impossible to stop people from engaging in peer2peer transactions because they always find a way around it, I remembered that one time there was a ban on Binance and other centralized exchanges but we still found our way through those restrictions
Sure, people will always get away somehow from some of those restrictions. Naturally, it will only take some time for them to figure out how to go about it. But common, trying to get a control over non custodial wallet use or transactions, isn't that just too much?
If the Russian government is more concerned on making more profits from these exchanges, they should come out openly that they want to do so, probably increasing there task or whatever means they wish to and not necessarily coming up with some proposed ban that will affect citizens who are involved in crypto activities and trading.

The inflation rate is not fake news. The basket of goods they choose to represent the rate is truly rising at the rate they represent. LOL, rich people in the USA have tried to make that happen literally for the last half century. It would be an absolute bonanza for millionaires and billionaires, and they've spent $billions trying to make it happen. Most rich people in the USA would pay zero taxes if they did that, so you can imagine it's worth lots of money for campaign contributions just to even try it.
But... it's not going to happen. Apparently tax cuts for the super-rich is rather odious for 90% of voters (i.e. the ones who aren't... rich).
As for claiming the inflation rates is "fake news", um... do you have any evidence to back that up? In other words, can you point at any items that cost far more than the stated inflation rate and then explain how that averages with a bunch of other goods? Personally I don't see anything past what the official inflation rates state, living here in the USA and buying all of the stuff I buy. Prices have gone up over the last few years post-pandemic, but certain things have dropped in price, and many things have stay about the same. Gas is way up because the Republicans started a war with Iran, but that's clearly a specific thing that has nothing to do with overall inflation.

At the end of the day a government has to raise money somehow. You can debate how, but reducing taxes in one area means raising taxes in another area.

Well, I understand that while they are trying to fight against Bitcoin adoption, they are equally giving conditional policies to those that uses Bitcoin for payments believing that Bitcoin is resourceful while the stable coins is not instead, the stable coin is even flexible to be devalued in the economy market.
Obviously they would support stablecoins that are backed by the US dollar as that will increase the demand for USD around the world.
There you will see how they monopolize things, it's not about Bitcoin being volatile and transactions being slow, but it's about where they will benefit the most.
So they are seeing stable coin as more of being a Fiat than crypto or was it because of the fact that stables appeared to the value of USD?
They are still crypto as they uses as they are using network like eth, tron, bnb, (etc).
And the fact that its back by USD, the more they will regulate it favorable to the users so it will increase adoption.
This means that unfortunately, we'll probably not get rid of such a tax even if Bitcoin is used more as a currency, because it would still not be a local currency but an "asset", "property" or "good" just as all foreign currencies.

I think capital gains tax occurred because the value of your asset increased.
You buy bitcoin at $1000 and sold at $1500, you naturally have to recognize $500 as taxable capital gain.

The people who try to make a sense about why stablecoins and not Bitcoin are missing the big picture. Capital gains tax is not a fair tax, and every act on top of this fact will also be unfair. The reason is simple; inflation is not a fair tax.
Capital gains tax means that you're taxing me on "fiat gains". But my asset may have not increased in demand, the USD shitcoin people are trading it with is devaluing, and you want to tax me because people are trading the shitcoin for Bitcoin?
Capital gains tax is what the government does to those who have managed to escape the inflation the same government causes.
Even if you are right, I think this is a separate topic and not directly about this thread. Capital taxes can exist but they need to be reworked so that the rich pay a lot and low new worth or medium net worth people don't pay anything, that would be a more fair way of keeping them if the decision was to try to keep them. When it comes to this particular Act, the user is wrong to bring it up. There is no good reason why Bitcoin would be exempt from taxes. It behaves like an asset that often makes very big gains for its holders. You don't make money buy buying 100 USDT with $100. When you sell it back, it is worth $100.
Yeah, if stablecoin purchases get the exemption while BTC doesn’t, people will naturally use stablecoins for everyday spending. Bitcoin would stay more of a savings/settlement asset until the tax rules become simpler. The $10 fee exemption feels pretty minor compared with that.
It would be appropriate to make an exemption for small amounts, there were some proposals for this kind of thing. Let's say that if they exempt it for purchases under $1000, that would help a lot for spending. What users seem to fail to understand is that stablecoins are exempt effectively even without this because there is no gain! This regulation just wants to reduce the accounting and taxation burden, so people do not need to document and track all of this when there is no gain anyway. Things that do not create gains are exempt by their nature..

Well, no tax is "fair"--it's
tax after all.
That said, should they exempt a portion of your capital gains based on the year's inflation rate? That would be interesting, but in the US it wouldn't amount to much (~2.7% last year) so I doubt many people would get behind that. But it's not impossible.
Also, in the USA, for years the Republican party has pushed to remove capital gains tax for everybody on everything. This was looked at as a tax cut for the rich though (because it's a tax cut for the rich), so this policy idea was never popular.
At the end of the day a government has to raise money
somehow. You can debate how, but reducing taxes in one area means raising taxes in another area.
All the proposal is saying here is that stablecoins, by definition, don't produce any kind of gain.

If you're trading P2P, isn't it already given that you want to avoid taxes? Otherwise why trading P2P? Just stick with a Binance account and use the most liquid order book, you'll trade the bitcoin at the best rates.
Making P2P illegal is as effective as making "P2P drug dealing illegal". Chances are the person who wants drugs, and wants them peer-to-peer, wouldn't have his mind changed because of a law.
Stupid laws. The point is to make degraded crowd happy. There are people who become happy when they hear that gambling is getting banned in their own country but they fail to realize that it's not gonna solve anything inside the country, actually, it will only make money go from their own country to another.
Making P2P trading illegal is probably the dumbest thing I've heard recently. It will only make things worse in terms of control because too many will move on cash.
It fights against crypto's whole principle. It was created to get rid of 3rd parties in payment and to be a P2P system.
Okay, they might make it difficult to trade crypto P2P via card but what about cash? Will they go so far that they'll hire undercover cops for making a fake trade to label person as criminal and arrest? I wouldn't be surprised because prison terms can reach seven years, which is insane.

There is a difference between a direct purchase and a barter for goods.
I don't know why you and BlackHatCoiner mentioned that complicated examples. Jeremy was simply the payment processor. In today's supermarkets, most people pay with cards, and thus they pay to the payment processor (e.g. Visa). This is because the supermarkets don't have infrastructure to handle the card payment, they need an intermediary.
Jeremy did the same with Bitcoin: the pizza sellers didn't have the infrastructure to handle Bitcoin, so Jeremy stepped in and did that intermediary step.
The only thing which is different is the exchange rate conversion (1 "VisaUSD" is the same as 1 "BankUSD" and 1 "CentralBankUSD", while 1 BTC fluctuates to the USD), but here BHC brought up the example of an USD to EUR on-the-fly exchange on Amazon and that's quite much the same thing, only that Bitcoin isn't "legal tender" in the US (and was much less so in 2010).

Yes but that wasn't the point of the question whether Jeremy did sell a "service" to Laszlo and thus Bitcoin was indeed used as money in that particular step of the trade. The whole point is that Jeremy accepted BTC.
This famous Alpaca Socks farm [1] was perhaps the first time (apart from that JPEG seller mentioned before, which is a bit dubious) where such an intermediary wasn't necessary because the Grass Hill Alpaca farm did accept BTC directly. There were some other services mentioned in that particular Slashdot post from February 2011:

Making P2P illegal is as effective as making "P2P drug dealing illegal". Chances are the person who wants drugs, and wants them peer-to-peer, wouldn't have his mind changed because of a law.
I don't know how a lot of people get away with this stuff, I agree with you with using centralized exchanges like Binance rates are better for users and the local law. And like you said, it's impossible to stop people from engaging in peer2peer transactions because they always find a way around it, I remembered that one time there was a ban on Binance and other centralized exchanges but we still found our way through those restrictions

What is stable with the current economy, exactly? The only thing stable is the speed by which everything gets more garbage and more expensive. It has already started falling on us.

Bitcoin's presence as a hero against inflation is something we desperately need, and it is clearly different from fiat printers and their products, which are not inflation-resistant.
One thing that really amazes me about Bitcoin is; that it can be one of solution for countries that are in debt, and my country should realize the importance of holding Bitcoin as a reserve. Rather than holding fiat which will only complicate this country's finances. Obviously, it will help the people of the country.

Electrum and 🔵 Bluewallet are the best in android or mobile devices but I saw some dichotomy between the two. Electrum wallet does not work in Iphone but 🔵 Bluewallet works in android and Iphone devices and another thing is Electrum wallet is easier to use than 🔵 Bluewallet base on UI.
And all the people I know around my region who are into bitcoin investment or trading are using Electrum wallet. And any updates (software update or upgrade) the developers do, it has effect immediately on the android version of the software. So you are right that they're not separately operating but it is an integral part of the software.

I don't think it's that bad.
Electrum for android is not a separate project, it is part of the main project [1] so the backend is identical so every work done on the Electrum project is also done to Electrum Android. The front-end is different to be able to run on an android device. And looking at the code it seems active enough [2].

+1 to BlackHatCoiner - depends on what you need the phone wallet for. If it's just sending/receiving, a self-custodial open-source wallet will do. Long-term storage is a different story, people above already covered that well.
A note about Electrum seed phrases; they differ from the industry standard (bip39). If you generate a seed using Electrum you will not be able to restore it using any hardware wallet, and most other software wallets.
Good point. I'd go with a BIP39 wallet to start with - you can restore it almost anywhere, including a hardware wallet if you get one later.
Besides BlueWallet, you could check out Gem Wallet: self-custodial, 100% open source (
GitHub), available on Android and iOS, standard 12-word secret phrase.
Whichever you pick, download it only from the official site, Google Play or the App Store, and write the secret phrase down on paper. Don't screenshot it.

All these chains and the concept of "native Bitcoin" as a network is an operation run by centralized exchanges like Binance to promote fractional reserve system, and enrich the exchange owners at the expense of Bitcoin holders. There is no bitcoin outside the Bitcoin network, unless it is anchored to some unpublished Bitcoin transaction that makes use of its scripting language. Every other "wrapped Bitcoin" is an IOU.
It is pretty much a bad design for direct payments.
Its strength is scarcity and security.
Not very usable for buying small ticket items. It will no longer work well to buy items on the directly the main chain. And off chain layer 2 solutions are not quite the same.
What he should be asking is why not use a coin that does not have scarcity for p2p?
Doge for instance is better for any payment of 1 to 1000 dollars than btc.

By this line of reasoning, when you go to the supermarket to buy groceries, you're not "directly buying groceries", you're buying the "intermediary" (the commercial bank) and
they buy the groceries for you, so 95% of the economy is based on barter system.

The pizza parallel would be
- I give you 20 packs of cigs, you go to the supermarket, buy me two bottles of whiskey, and come back
The major difference: the second case still and always has the first one embedded; for the second case to wrok, there will always be the need for you to give fiat to the supermarket to buy the bottles of whiskey in the first place!
