Every government believes in the monetary policy that will weaken fiat currency, if not that they won't have to print new money every year. Since nothing in this world is perfect, I believe that a crash should always be welcomed.
I believe what's important now is how we will find a solution to the crash through things like BTC and treat the crash in our favour, because for every problem, there's always a solution hanging somewhere.

The laughable problem with, "Bitcoin crashes honestly", is that its price surges and crashes depending on the current "Monetary Policy" of the Central Bankers. If it's to "crash honestly", that's because the Monetary Policy is more about tightening than expansion.

What we know for sure, is that the quantum-safe math aren't tested enough, especially in comparison with elliptic curve cryptography. Hardforking to a quantum-safe bitcoin where quantum-resistant cryptography is suddenly broken by classical computers, without quantum computers even existing, would be massive failure, and it's definitely within the realms of possibility.
But as actual Computer Scientists, and as Bitcoin developers that have actually contributed in building/improving Bitcoin, then they probably have more knowledge on "what might be" on the matter, no?
By the way, there are laughable people in X that have started to say that ZCash "meaningful mitigations" against the "Quantum Threat".
Although, I agree that if indeed the Quantum Threat happens in a few years, it MIGHT be harder for the Bitcoin community to coordinate for a timely hard fork to Quantum Resistance.

Of course it doesn't make sense if you want everything to be legal. But if you take into account that the authorities in your country do not know your online identity on this forum and therefore cannot even know that you have won/earned anything from it, then you could be in a sig campaign and one day spend those coins without "they" even knowing.

It's as if the tax system in Greece is designed so you evade taxes.

Yeah, 2% inflation means you lose around half your purchasing power power every 3-ish decades. Not a good way to encourage savings or investing and consequently economic growth.
And if you pull out longer than a few weeks or few months, "crashes" is relative.

Considering the economic crisis we are heading to, bitcoin indeed could crash further. We are not sure when the economic crisis would start but it would be one of the unprecedented and most severe crash that may not make our economy come back to normal ever. The reason for that is the decrease in demand.
The world population is moving towards a plateau and our supply is ever increasing. The demand for oil, gas and even food might start to decrease sooner than expected and with abundant supply added with the distrust in fiat, a global economic collapse and deflation may take us to decade long economic depression.
Bitcoin too could be hit hard by this and have a crash but the good thing about bitcoin is its one of the place where people move to when they don't trust on fiat. Many economist have described bitcoin as digital gold, an asset that has real value to the holders.
I'm maybe optimistic but even in severe economic depression, I believe bitcoin would be among the rare asset that holds it value.

That's a thread of in itself, however, I would agree and disagree at the same time - the further you go from the big cities, the better and healthier food you would likely find.

Look carefully at how the government prints its money and how the M2 money supply moves, doesn't Bitcoin follow the amount of money in circulation, the more money is printed, the greater the increase in the price of Bitcoin, and forever it will definitely be like this.
And if you look at the blue cyclic graph, the Yoy spike is not that big, I quite believe that there will be QE, then they will expand their capital to Bitcoin, there we will be able to see how the exponential increase will occur.

To be honest when you mentioned all of these in one place, reading them made me feel insecure haha, like someone is too frustrated from this world.
Bro I think I am getting good food quality, I avoid shit, all I am concerns now is about the basic ingredients that I can't change like the cooking oil, and other things, rent is really high but it is not increasing that quickly, fiat is not crashing really, if it is crashing then not at that rate, speaking about my local currency that is also not crashing, now it has found a stable place but since the start everything is crashing.
If that's what you mean, as the time frame matters for this.

And it's almost two decades now, but still, so sign of a possible crash. Andreas Antonopoulos talked about this set of people, who for some reasons just don't want to believe that a system that can set standards, can ever exist. I'm not sure of why it keeps happening, but it seems this set of people are always present in every single timeline or era. I belive that it is not that those assets are going up, but fiat currencies are going down

Definitely, Bitcoin crashes honestly and when it crashes, it does so in the open and everyone witnesses it and watches the price charts and hence, there is no bailouts, no secret meetings, and no secret liquidity injections. Every buyer and seller sees the very same order books, witnesses the same volatility, same risks and same demand and supply playing out with no hidden details. This is in sharp contrast to Fiat that governments and central banks constantly strive to remedy behind close doors outside people's notice and end up altering monetary performance.
When fiat crashes, banks gets bailed out, Government might try to rescue institutions from falling, leaving the ordinary people to bear the brunt of fiat failure, fiat crash ends up getting socialized with the people at the receiving end.
Bitcoin crashing is borne by everyone, the protocol doesn't favour insiders and punish outsiders because it is transparent and everyone is treated equally.

The equipment can break down in a year, but here it's five years.
I'm looking at reports of winners in solo mining lotteries, and the winners usually have higher hashrates than 1.2 TH/s. So, right now, I'd be playing the lottery with an AVALON Q 90 TH/s ASIC or something similar.

Yesterday, someone's life changed when he solved
block 924569 with only 6 TH/s, and earned 3.146 BTC. With that much hashrate, you get around 1 in 1.2 million chance of solving a block daily. You would be mining for 10 years straight, and you'd still have around 0.3% of solving a block. (Given a steady difficulty, which is never true as it goes up over the long term, so even less than that.)
Is playing the lottery a good idea? Well, you can accept the chances are slim, that it's extremely likely you never win, that miracles don't happen in life... or you can give it a shot, because hope dies last. In this thread I'm going to compare the traditional lottery with lottery mining using a Bitaxe Gamma 601, and show why lottery mining might actually be more preferable for someone who still believes in miracles.
Chance- The standard 6-number lottery, where people select 5 numbers from 1 to 49, and a jackpot, has a chance of around 1 in 14 million.
- A bitaxe miner generates 1.2 TH/s, which give you around 1 in 7 million chance to win every day.
Reward- The prize for winning the lottery is usually around $1-3 million before taxes.
- A bitcoin block can reward at least 3.125 BTC if it is mined before 2028, 1.5625 BTC before 2032 and 0.78125 BTC before 2036. In conservative predictions, I think we can all agree those are worth at least $300k at each respective time period.
Cost- In my country, a lottery ticket costs around €1. I'll be generous and consider that it only costs $1.
- A bitaxe with 1.2 TH/s burns around 17 watts, which comes at around 12 kWh per month. In my country that's around $3 per month. The miner costs around $120 to purchase.
From a strict chance:reward ratio, it seems like the standard lottery game is more preferable to play, because it's two times less probable to win, but rewards up to 10x. However, as you can see below, the cost of buying the lottery everyday is more expensive, if you play every day, over the long term:

Interesting comparison! Lottery mining really highlights the extreme odds in both cases. With 6 TH/s, hitting a block is incredibly unlikely, but unlike a traditional lottery, mining still provides some tangible progress, like accumulated fees or small rewards, even if you don’t hit the big block.
I agree — it’s mostly about hope and risk tolerance. For someone chasing a miracle, mining gives a tiny chance of a huge reward, while at least contributing to the network. It’s a fascinating way to think about “lottery odds” in a more technical sense.

At that time either it was his luck or he really went to the price but whatever Elon's silence is either not much about crypto at the moment or he is also quite scared at the moment because many people have invested in these coins trusting him.
Elon Musk's quarrel with Donald Trump has been resolved overtime because as we know, it greatly affected the sales of Tesla stocks and products and would have done great damage to investors who had their funds invested in Doge coin.
This goes to show how speculation actually has a great effect on the crypto market and how those who are influential and have their own coins shouldn't bring their concerns or quarrels with other great investors online or bring it outside to the public, because it would have a lot of effects on the common simple investors who just want to make profit.

The whole thing is not impossible but rather improbable I think many people are actually misunderstanding all this double spending of a thing, it is not beneficial to any one who is attacking bitcoin because if by a chance the North Korea becomes successful as the example used by the OP what can the double spending do for them? Nothing, because they wouldn’t still get access to those bitcoin.
The thing about double spending is once the hackers get a invalidates the blocks the bitcoin simply goes back to belonging to the sender once more and not the attacker and this cannot help the attacker in any way because to have access to those bitcoin they need to have access to the seed phrase or private key that unlocks those bitcoins and that’s certainly not what any 51% attack can do.

I didn't do anything at all. Did not touched any setting, everything was on default.
I had to do a fresh installation of Bitcoin core a few months ago (the whole process of downloading and verifying), because I messed up somewhere while tweaking some setting. And while I was at it, I faced it. It was only a one time error, never encountered it a 2nd time, so I didn't paid much attention to it. Recently I got curious and asked about it in this thread.

I think they're a lot better by owning a big hacking group and engaging in cyber attacks.
They gain famous, nothing more.
They get nothing financially beneficial, and I believe that finance is important with any entity, and is more important then popularity, hence I believe that there is no entity with financial burden on their shoulders will try to do 51% attack against Bitcoin network.
They have no reasons, no financial beneficiary by doing such attacks which if succeed, will harm their own pockets. It's like a terrible adverse effect if they attack Bitcoin network successfully.
I know that they know about the risk, and also how severe financial effect on their own fund with expensive cost for attack while no benefit in return.

I quietly read this and to be honest, it read like the average trader’s inner monologue at 3AM, right before promising to “start fresh tomorrow.”
What I find funny in this topic is that every trader has been at least some version of this person at some point by being overconfident on green days and philosophical on red days.
However, calling the whole thing rigged is oversimplifying it. Of a truth, exchanges can be shady, yes, most people trade emotions but blaming the broker is usually the last stage before accepting you’re the problem.
Still… I'll be sending this to few traders I know and I believe they’ll definitely feel it in their soul.

They are all more expensive, in my experience. In bitcoin, you can just play every day, for as long as the mining chip works. No lottery game can be played 30 times a month for $3.
Mine bch 1 day a week for a shot at a lessor prize.
Just for the record, Bitcoin Cash has a difficulty of 938 G. That's 6.82 EH/s. That means you have 0.000017595% chance of hitting a block in 10 minutes, or 0.0025% in a day. That's 1 in 39 thousand days. At 5 years running, you'd have ~4% chance of hitting a block, which today is worth something around $1600? And that's until the next halving which is a lot sooner than 5 years.
Better go for the big bucks.
What I was saying that (using 30 days months) that it's usually not $30 a month @ $1 a day.
It's usually $30 a month - some small amount of tiny $1 and $2 wins which skews the math a bit.

We're talking about the same bitcoin, right? The one that has an addressable market cap of $300 trillion, and which has done a 20x since Covid?
This is not entirely true, bitcoin fall to $3850 during COVID 19 but bitcoin ATH at the time was $19600 at the time. Bitcoin ATH will be used for such comparison and that will make Swordsoffreedom to be more correct.

- Which wallets still support CoinJoin today?
Wasabi and Joinmarket are practically the only ones. The Samourai coordinator has been taken down. WabiSabi coinjoins are more cost efficient than Joinmarket's, as far as I recall.
- How effective is mixing in real terms and what limits does it have?
I think that you can get pretty good levels of anonymity with WabiSabi coinjoins. Perhaps the best, in coinjoin terms.
- What mistakes are important to avoid?
Not giving KYC. It's good to mix your coins after you buy them from an exchange, but the exchange would still know that you mixed them, and since this is a cat-and-mouse game, you may sooner or later get flagged for suspicious activity. Better buy them peer-to-peer at platforms like Bisq or Peach.
Hi, you are right that it would be better to buy from Bisq for example, but the exchange cannot see that you do coinjoin, it would only see that you have sent BTC to a wallet like Wasabi thanks to the lists of labeled addresses, such as known addresses of Wasabi Inputs, coinjoin rounds etc You could get around this by adding the middle between exchange kyc and wasabi, sending to another non-custodial wallet so as not to arouse suspicion and not risk being flagged. At least I think it can be a good practice to adopt.

I noticed that this topic was recently mentioned as the answer to the question regarding the difference between PoW and PoS.
That old thread of mined is a bit outdated, I might say. Proof-of-Stake protocols like Ethereum no longer suffer from the nothing-at-stake problem, as they now use penalties to whoever signs in multiple forks with the same coins, so there are economic consequences of voting to an attacker's chain, just like when spending electricity to attack the network.
If I had to summarize the primary difference between PoW and PoS today, I'd point to the difficulty of compromising the network. In PoW, nothing guarantees that you hold a fixed percentage of the voting power. In a fixed-supply PoS system, however, owning a share of the stake effectively guarantees your continued ability to validate, regardless of demand from new participants. It also remains orders of magnitude more difficult to compromise a PoW network, since doing so requires acquiring a large amount of specialized hardware. In contrast, a PoS system can theoretically be held hostage by a single well-funded wallet whose signatures control a significant portion of the stake.
This is true for all PoS systems, not just those that have fixed supplies. Furthermore, these problems are all aggravated by the fact that pretty much every single PoS network has a premined supply. Therefore, the voting power is centralized in the hands of the team/company/foundation and early insiders. By having a large supply in the early days, especially when APRs are higher they basically guarantee majority network control long-term. The governance systems in PoS networks where people vote with their stake are just a misdirection, a desperate attempt to fake decentralization for the normies where there is none.
Furthermore, there is a strong incentive to vote along with the company/foundation. If you vote against it and are a significant player you risk being silently blacklisted for grants and other supports that the foundation provides. This is very different than the situation in Bitcoin where nobody trusts each other and everyone is fighting with each other (most often for good reasons, only sometimes due to stupid reasons -- CSAM-jr knows something about this). My observation of every single PoS network to date is that it is completely controlled in terms of voting power that it can't be called decentralized in any way.

This is not entirely true. In theory, the Bitcoin hard cap can be changed.
It can be changed but how many percent of Bitcoin holders want to have change of increasing total supply.
People want to have burn or buy back and burn programs in order to decrease the original total supply, it's helpful for price, while total supply increase does not help price rising but triggering its fall.
Like BlackHatCoiner pointed out, whoever feels they want to increase the hardcap can take their code elsewhere and get a different version just like we've seen with BCH, but he has to convince people into going along with him and good luck with that. Something Bitcoin cash haven't been able to do and even BSV couldn't. At least they all have the same max supply of 21 million.
There are many altcoins namely as Bitcoin forks but they are terribly weak altcoins and many of Bitcoin forks already died.

Even BCH is a biggest and most successful Bitcoin fork, it's hard to consider it as a successful project. Years since the fork in 2017, BCH hashrate has been almost unchanged, not yet made its new all time high while Bitcoin hashrate has increased exponentially since that year. This partially makes BCH as a failed project and with bigger block capacity, BCH blocks are not full that shows low demand on using BCH blockchain daily.

The 21 million bitcoins limited supplies is sealed to the bitcoin core that can not be manipulated to increments because, the computerized network encoded will never permit it to be unravelled.
The developer at Satoshi Nakamoto has already pegged it untampered that the bitcoin node would resist any inclined changes from the decentralized core.
This is not entirely true. In theory, the Bitcoin hard cap can be changed. It's a code after all, and codes can be rewritten or unwritten. It won't happen because the consensus won't allow it. Increasing the total supply of bitcoin will reduce the trust people had in bitcoin, and that is in nobody's interest (except those who are against bitcoin). The good thing is that Satoshi was smart. The people who it may be in their interests to increase the total supply (miners) can't do it, whle developers that whose interests are that the hard cap stays that way are the ones who have the ability to change that hard cap.

It's trading, because a 'dip' is something fundamentally subjective. Bitcoin has an addressable market cap of around $300 trillion, counting in today's dollar terms, consider even higher in the future due to money printing. Therefore, bitcoin is already in more than a 95% deep dip. In that sense, whether it falls to $90k, or goes up back to $120k is really a rounding error.
Dollar Cost Averaging is a strategy to avoid stressful and uncertain waiting for dips, and with DCA, it's traditionally used for regular purchases without mind about dips. However experienced people can apply DCA with dip waiting but to avoid risk of falling to trading and waiting for dips that don't come with good entry price, they can mix traditional DCA and dip-purchasing DCA if they are experienced and they think that they won't miss many opportunities with dip waiting.
If they think they are not good at it or they tried and failed several times, they have to forget about dip purchases and return to traditional DCA strategy for better investment practice.
As it is non sense if they don't buy bitcoin at $50,000 with traditional DCA but wait for dips and only buy a dip at $70,000 after Bitcoin rising to $90,000 or $100,000 and dip to $70,000.

So many people cannot see or realise that if they stop micro investigating the market and
ZOOM OUT they will see that the market is constantly rising.
It seems they need proof that its rising $20k in 2017 is proof, 2020 and 2025 is proof that it has risen,
not that it will continue.
Who knows if they invested more than they can invest? What I know is that it is good to have a wise decision and know what you are doing. Know when to buy and know when to sell. Invest the appropriate amount of money that will not make you feel emotional and thinking of selling. It is not good to fear of losing if you know what you are doing. But just that as some people have long term investment plan, some people have short term investment plan while some people are only swing traders. But after long term, is all-time high.
Its a number of factors pertaining to the "panicked"
Over extended themselves, suffered from FOMO when the market went over $100k then panicked
when thinking they were "

Post activity per local board during October 2025During October, 14463 posts were written across local boards that are part of this overview, which is a solid increase compared to September's 12612 posts. All the most active boards had better numbers than in September, with Nigerian boatrd reaching yet another all time high number of posts.
Active members per local board during October 2025During the last month, 1466 forum members wrote at least 1 post in one of the local boards, which is an increase compared to month before (1292). This is actually quite a big increase, because number of active members don't change much from month to month and its a good sign that members are reactivating now that summer is behind us.
Nigerian board just keeps increasing their lead on this chart, while Russian is far behind on the 2nd spot and will unlikely regain the top spot in the near future.
Local board members per amount of posts during October 2025When it comes to the percentage of members who wrote only 1 post in their board during October, leader is Arabic board with 59% of such members, while at the same bracket Greek board had only 11% of members.
At the 2-9 posts bracket leader is Romanian board with 67% of the members while Portuguese had the lowest percentage, only 21%.
Regarding the 10+ posts bracket, Croatian board is the leader with 62% of the members, while at the bottom is Romanian board that didn't have any members who wrote 10+ posts.
Merit shared per local board during October 2025During the above mentioned period, 8427 merit was shared across local boards, which is a drop compared to September's numbers (8922 merit).
While Nigerian board remained the most merited board, their number of shared merit went down significantly, and the same thing can be said about German board that went even more down percebtage wise. Overall drop would be even bigger if Russian board didn't have an increase compared to month before.
Merit/Post ratio per local board during October 2025In October, average merit per post ratio across local boards was 0.58, which is an decrease compared to September's 0.7 merit per post. Once again Romanian board had the highest ratio, followed by Polish and Spanish locals, while Greek board remained the the one with the lowest merit per post ratio, wuite below their 12 month average.

Nigerian board is naturally at the top, with the difference from the others that hasn't been seen before when it comes to this chart.

Doesn't it feel so good that bitcoin humiliates these "intelligent people"? So many smartasses and economists throughout the years, making bareless speculation, all aging like milk. Hodling bitcoin is the cure to the ego.
If people even checked historical price tends, they would know that January isn't exactly a month where we reach all time highs, or even have bull markets for the most part. It's sideways season.

Who knows if they invested more than they can invest? What I know is that it is good to have a wise decision and know what you are doing. Know when to buy and know when to sell. Invest the appropriate amount of money that will not make you feel emotional and thinking of selling. It is not good to fear of losing if you know what you are doing. But just that as some people have long term investment plan, some people have short term investment plan while some people are only swing traders. But after long term, is all-time high.
That's right. I wrote it in a humorous tone, but retailers who sell now tend to do so based on a short-term vision and without a good overall wealth-building plan. If you invest with money that you won't need for at least a long time, you don't sell during these downturns.
Whenever I see people talking about selling or fancy words like exit, I begin to wonder if they realise that there are people who have been holding bitcoin since 2013 and earlier and they are not interested to sell anytime soon...

When I am being asked if it's a good time to sell, my immediate answer is: "Sell FOR WHAT?" What should I exchange the bitcoin with that has a good chance of overperforming it over the long term? The key thing to remember is that eventually, whatever gains you might have, they sometime need to be denominated in some form of money, saved for the long-term.
This is key. Selling for fiat? If it's to somehow secure your profits, as they would say in Tradfi, what you're exchanging is real money for devalued, centralized junk. Although there are some cases where it might be acceptable, for example if you don't own a house and you use part of your holdings to buy one.
But if there won't be investors who SODL, then we wouldn't have BTC to buy?
Well, in theory, in the hypothetical and extreme case that no one sold, the natural supply would be the 450 bitcoins that are mined every day. There are some mining companies that do not sell or do not sell everything they mine, but in general, miners need to sell to pay for operational expenses. If 450 BTC a day was the only available to buy there would be a supply shock and therefore the price would skyrocket.
